Please tell me these are tadpoles

After seeing a thread a few weeks ago about mosquito larvae swimming in some water that had a child's toy in, its got me wondering what these things are that have appeared in my pond today. Are they tadpoles or are they mosquitos?

The pond filter hasn't been on for a while as we've had our garage demolished so there has been no power outside, which probably makes the pond a perfect place for these things, whatever they are.

So wise And knowledgable MN, please advise what they are!

I was worried it was mosquito larvae. If we drain the pond and clean it will that get rid of them?

Enchanters we do have a few frogs that love living in our pond and underneath our plants, but obviously they aren't doing their job well enough.

Tadpoles are 10 x the size of mosquito larvae- would you measure them in mm if so mosquito larvae.

You will always get these in a pond, unless you have something in the pond, like a fish, to eat them. No point draining your pond, they will appear again.
Is it suitable for fish? If not, look up how you could encourage diversity in a wildlife pond.

Def mosquito larvae!

Looks v green. Do you have aeration running in warm weather (eg a fountain) or has that been off too? In this hot weather all you'll have is warm water with v v little oxygen. Of v little use to any life beyond what can tolerate poor conditions. No wonder you've got mozzies.

Please don't put oil on it unless you want to make it worse.

Sort out some aeration & the filter, then consider getting some fish in. 😀

Far too late in the year for tadpoles. They are around in spring/early summer.

Why would you drain the pond? they're not doing any harm.
