I posted on Mumsnet years and years ago about the fact that I couldn't picture things in my head (had no mind's eye). I was shocked to hear the stories of other people that had this, and that it had a name, aphantasia. I can't tell you how it felt to hear that I wasn't alone in this. At the time, it was a brand new condition, and I vowed that if I ever got into uni, I would study it.

I got into uni (homeless, pregnant but out of an abusive relationship - another thing to thank MN for), and it's been a long old road for me. I decided to write my dissertation on it. And who better to ask to participate than my Mumsnet friends who helped me discover it so many years ago?!

I got 100 participants in record time; my dissertation supervisor couldn't believe it. Then some MN posters realised that the lab techs hadn't randomised one of the questions, making my study pretty much fundamentally flawed. I was devastated (had already left it so late due to recently diagnosed ADHD). MN banded together, got their family and friends to participate too, and I got another 100 in the revised study in less than 3 days.

I promised I'd come back to tell you all how I did, but I can't find the thread. So I thought I'd make a new one to tell you I got my grade back today and it was...

75! A high first grin

I couldn't have done it without you guys. All I've ever wanted to be was a child psychologist, and the rest of my grades were on the boundary of 2.1/2.2 mainly due to the aforementioned ADHD - and this has pushed it up so much that I think I'll get a solid 2.1, with an amazing dissertation grade. This, coupled with experience in mental health, should give me a good shot at securing a place on the v competitive Dclinpsy in a year or two.

For everyone who participated, THANK YOU! I could burst with happiness. All of your efforts to help a stranger who you don't even know - it means the world, and it's changed my life. Thank you from the bottom of my heart thanks
