Myrtle Allen has died - first Irish woman to gain a Michelin star

She got to a great age, 94. My DM always greatly admired her cooking style, and still has and uses some of her cookbooks. I'm old enough to remember my Mum saying at the time that she was a breath of fresh air, she used Irish ingredients and encouraged people to make things just a bit tastier in their own homes at a time when the choice seemed to be boring but easy to cook food at home or fancy food requiring specialist equipment and training to make when out at restaurants.

Oh dear, that's sad. I have fond memories of her, both television and real life. She was a great age, and still active until recently enough I think.
