Can you remember how your baby slept at night?!

Just want to get a feel of how other baby’s sleep! I have a nearly 6 month old dd and just wondered how your baby’s slept at that age? How long for? Did they wake?

DS1 - awful. Woke up every 2 hours or 1 hour or 40 minutes.
DS2 - ok, probably only one wake up or 2 max per night for milk.

Hi smile
When my baby was 6 months she wouldn't sleep for more than 3/4 hours without wanting boob but at 6 and half months I switched to formula so I could go back to work and return to some normality and she suddenly started feeding her last bottle at 11pm and then will sleep for 10-12 hours straight! Had to poke her a few times the first few weeks as I was terrified something was wrong with her blushconfused always give a bedtime bath with her and play a classical music YouTube vid that has waterfall sounds as well as the classical works a treat xxx

My wee boy had stopped his night feed by then but still woke at about 11, 1, 5 then 7.
At 14 months he started sleeping through.

My ds slept 10 hours at that age. I don’t know how - he just did. He dropped his night feed proper by 8 weeks and didn’t feed in the night ever again.

He sleeps well. Again I have no idea why or how. Just very very lucky I suppose!

Dd1 woke every 2-3 hours for 28 months

Dd2 slept from 10pm - 7am from age 2 weeks (bless her)

TheClitterati Fri 25-May-18 21:16:24

18 months, not 28

wendz86 Fri 25-May-18 21:20:16

Both my dd's woke every 2-3 hours at that age I think.

Adviceneeded13 Fri 25-May-18 21:26:15

Thanks everyone! @socktastic ... if they woke but not for a feed ... what did you do to settle them?

butlerswharf Fri 25-May-18 21:26:18

At nearly 6 months old my baby slept a solid 10 hrs through the night. But at 9 months d (now) she wakes up several times a night confusedwine

Adviceneeded13 Fri 25-May-18 21:29:10

@butlerswharf oh no 🤦‍♀️. What do you do to soothe her?

Whatififall Fri 25-May-18 21:30:23

DD was sleeping through for 12/13 hours from 4 months. I totally didn’t appreciate this until DS was born and just didn’t sleep. At 6 months he was still up 2 or 3 times a night. He’s now 15 months and still has never slept through.

Lemontwist Fri 25-May-18 21:31:40

DS1 slept through from 12 weeks. DS2 didn't sleep for more than 2 hours at a time until he was two.
I'm hoping that DC3, due in a few weeks takes after their oldest brother grin

TooMinty Fri 25-May-18 21:32:12

But now...
DS1 (5.5 yrs) - out cold for 12 hours solid
DS2 (3.5 yrs) - sometimes awake for 2 hours for no reason, wakes early other times, sleeps through maybe 4 out of 7 nights so you don't know what to expect!

HoneyWheeler Fri 25-May-18 21:34:25

Mine wakes twice a night for a feed, but was sleeping 8 hours straight a few months ago! It got worse around 4 months, up every 1-2 hours but now he's improved a bit!

tootiredtospeak Fri 25-May-18 21:34:58

Eldest now 17 never slept.... little 2, 5 and 17 months slept from 11 till 6.30 from about 4 mnths. 7 to 7 about 8 or 9 mnths with a lot of hard work.

neversleepagain Fri 25-May-18 21:35:26

At 6 months my twins slept from 6:30pm until their dream feed at 10:30pm. We'd feed them and change their nappies and they'd sleep until I woke them around 7:15am. They didn't start teething until 11 months so rarely woke and needed comforting.

It felt amazing after having to feed and change 2 premature newborns every 45 minutes through the night for weeks and weeks.

Thank you for all your responses!! I’ve come to realise I have so much anxiety surrounding how my dd sleeps. How does everyone soothe their LOs when they wake?

Adviceneeded13 Fri 25-May-18 21:39:37

@neversleepagain I bet it did!! Twins - wow!! That’s amazing sleep considering there are two of them 😊

Adviceneeded13 Fri 25-May-18 21:40:39

@tootiredtospeak what do you mean by hardwork? How did you get them to sleep?

icclemunchy Fri 25-May-18 21:44:37

At 6months she still woke every 3ish hours. Still doesn't blinking sleep now she's 3yrs!

I just used to boob her back to sleep. Right up until she weaned at 2yrs 8months. Ohhh how I wish she hadn't stopped because now we just have to ride it out!

dustarr73 Fri 25-May-18 21:45:17

Ds1 was a dream not narky, slept great
Ds2 slept for 40 minutes and was awake for days( or felt like it)
Ds 3, and 5 fed fell asleep and had decent amount of sleep

NamelessNinja Fri 25-May-18 21:56:54

My BF DS was waking once a night at 6 months for a quick feed and back to sleep again. He started sleeping through consistently about 7 months and I think this was when he was taking 3 decent meals a day.

JellySlice Fri 25-May-18 22:01:31

At 6m I had:

One reliably sleeping through to at least 7am. Dream-fed when I went to bed at 10ish.
One sleeping through 2-3 nights every week, but only waking once on other nights. Unfortunately this one would start the day at 5-6am after sleeping through. Likewise, dreamfed at 10ish.
And one waking every 45-60 minutes, and feeding back to sleep. That one I don't actually remember, as I was totally gaga from sleep-deprivation.

TooMinty Fri 25-May-18 22:03:12

DS1 I fed to sleep then sleep trained when I was at breaking point.

DS2 I made an effort to put down awake and did pick up put down. Initially seemed to work... now I sit with him til he falls asleep or give up and bring him into our bed where he thrashes around and keeps us awake ☹️
