Anti dandruff shampoo recommendations

Dd’s dandruff has got bad again. We always use the L’Oréal anti dandruff for men but that doesn’t seem to be effective anymore.

Have also used Asda’s own anti dandruff as heard it was good but it hasn’t helped.

Any suggestions please?

I’ve just tested it as a MN product test and it’s brilliant

I was just coming on to say exactly what ohfourfoxache said, balneum is amazing.

Doesn’t smell particularly nice but gets the job done

Go to the doctor and you can get specialist anti dandruff that actually works on prescription
It’s a fungal infection

Thanks all, will look up your suggestions.

Was thinking of the GP eight but near impossible to get an appointment at our surgery.

Perhaps you could do a phone consultation with them as it’s not too serious

Funnily enough I was thinking of making this topic as the L’Oreal men’s shampoo which worked amazingly for me before is no longer as effective sad

Also e45 dry scalp shampoo has the same ingredients as balneum’s but much cheaper!

Tried loads. Also have another issue with hair so it needs to work with that.
The only products that don't seem to irritate my scalp and cause build up are the Aveda shampoo and volume mousse.

Maybe they have changed the ingredients Embarrassed?

We have used it for years then suddenly dandruff central.

Ginger shampoo from body shop and there’s another coconut shampoo which I get from Tesco’s for about £8 and I switch between the two.

I struggled with dandruff and a dry scalp for years. Even the Dr had a go.

Only thing that worked? Head and Shoulders.
I know it sounds basic and 'corny' but it's the only thing that has worked for me.

TGel, the one my husband uses smells lovely and fresh. I think it’s the one for dry hair?

I use TGel for dry hair. It is not smelly and doesn't dry your hair out so it feels like straw!

Elvive.....the green bottle

I used to suffer with dandruff and an itchy scalp. I started buying sulfate free shampoo and it all cleared up in weeks

OnTopOfSpaghetti Mon 21-May-18 17:36:49

Alphosyl, recommended to me on here, has completely sorted out my dandruff and itchy scalp. It stinks though! But only use it 2-3 times a week so it's bearable!

Something with selenium in it, like "Selsun"

ItsAllGoingToBeFine Mon 21-May-18 17:40:02

Nizoral. It's anti-fungal and actually works.

kyrenialady Mon 21-May-18 18:12:48

Thanks for all the suggestions, plenty to try.

eightfacesofthemoon Mon 21-May-18 18:25:54

Selsun! That’s the one the doctor said! I just couldn’t remember the name
Gone in a week

Mammatron Mon 21-May-18 18:27:26

Balneum or the body shop one, both work well for me!

Not Vosene! Been using it on DS for years for just general shampooing but I've noticed he's actually starting to get dandruff, whilst using Vosene.
