Can you name this IKEA sofa?

Can you name my sister's IKEA sofa from the description?

- steel frame
- very, very heavy!
- two large cushions on the bottom but no detachable cushions on the back
- long enough for a 6 foot person to sleep on fairly comfortable
- wide arms with flat tops, large enough to rest tea / magazine / computer on
- very comfy!
- about a decade old (although I think they sold it for a while after that)

She's got it in a beige corduroy (if it was clothing that's what it'd be called anyway!)

I want to see if I can get her replacement covers, but need to know what they're called to see if it's possible.

I know you could get replacement covers for it when she bought it.

I'll post some pics of what it's almost like...

What do the labels say? Look underneath, or on the washing instructions on the covers?

The wide arms and the cushions along the seat are similar to this shape - but the back's wrong. My sister's sofa doesn't have cushions that come away at the back.

Also it's NOT a sofabed, ignore that bit!

Ah, good idea, thanks! I'm not there right now though.

Ooh, this is so similar!

The arms, cushions and material could be the same sofa.

But the back is different - my sister's has no cushions on the back.

Also, you don't get a sense of scale from this pic - it's massive. My 6 foot OH can put his head on the arm, lie down and stretch out the whole length of the sofa easily.

That link is to download old Ikea catalogues.

Toss, are you sure you meant Balonz? Googling it, the first result is a mumsnet thread!

Help Difficult choice of boys names Sean Daniel or Balonz

(FWIW I vote Daniel. I'm all into unusual names, but Balonz kinda sounds like.. well.. a sofa!)

This website is Australian, but might be helpful. Possibly "Kramfors"?

It would almost be cheaper to buy a new sofa!

Op you should read the balonz thread. Very funny.

Unfortunately, I can't be any help with the sofa.

Could also be Klippan, Klobo, Nikkala, Sandby, or Tylosand, from my first link.

cake brew and/or gin all round!

Thank you!

Except - I now see the cost of new covers is about the same as she paid for the whole sofa (second hand)! grin

What to do...

AintNobodyHereButUsChickens Thu 26-Apr-18 14:42:08

Oh I loved that thread grin

grandplans Thu 26-Apr-18 14:43:20

I suppose it's easier to give someone a gift of new sofa covers than a bloody great heavy sofa!

Anyway, now I know the name, I can trawl the internet, looking for bargain...

grandplans Thu 26-Apr-18 14:43:54

OdileDeCaray hours of procrastination right there!

grandplans Thu 26-Apr-18 14:47:37

It would almost be cheaper to buy a new sofa!

IIRC she paid something like £100 or £150 for it "nearly new" so she could get about 2 sofas for that price!

Just read the Balonz threads (on both sites) very funny, thanks TossDaily and dontticklethetoad grin
