Help me please, parents in Wales!

Can you help me with a 1 minute (if that) survey?

I work for a charity that runs an amazing project helping improve literacy and numeracy by placing volunteers in schools (decreasing social isolation and increasing community cohesion in the process). Our funding is ending this summer, and we're trying to secure funding for our next phase (slightly different, concentrating on oracy in deprived areas). Our funders require lots of consultation, hence the survey... I'd be very grateful if you could fill it in.

Oh I'm a bit disappointed - I was looking forward to a tale of your parents who live on the other side of the country unexpectedly popping in for a visit to you in Wales. Or maybe parents who got lost on their way to Edinburgh and were stranded in Wales...

A worth project nonetheless.

I had assumed you were up North and your parents in Wales needed help. I was mentally packing the car with supplies.

moogdroog Thu 19-Apr-18 17:24:04

Hehehe! I hadn't even considered the misleading title, sorry to disappoint. I do love that MNers were willing to go rescue my parents though grin

@leghairdontcare - at the moment, we're Wales-wide (quite a task, I cover 6 counties myself). With the new project (funding permitting) we're likely to concentrate on areas high up on the index of multiple deprivation, so the valleys, bits of Swansea, Llanelli, a few pockets in Pembs, Rhyl...

And thanks everyone!

LadyMonicaBaddingham Thu 19-Apr-18 17:26:28

Ceredigion always loses out on this sort of thing because we're too rural...

moogdroog Thu 19-Apr-18 17:35:46

LadyMonicaBaddingham - Ceredigion is in my patch, and I do have quite a few volunteers in Aberystwyth, and some on the Pembs/Carms borders. I like rural smile.
Cardigan technically qualifies under the deprivation index, but unfortunately the schools won't play ball there confused

leghairdontcare Thu 19-Apr-18 17:40:54

I'm in merthyr definitely areas here that qualify on the WIMD. Hopefully you'll get it and I'll see the work you do on the project in the future.

moogdroog Thu 19-Apr-18 17:49:04

leghairdontcare - I used to work in Merthyr, in drugs/alcohol... it was, umm, very busy!!
