When you were little, what totally unobtainable things did you really, really want?

Me, I longed for long, glossy black hair. As I was as blonde as it was possible to be this wasn't happening. I did try and persuade mum to buy me a long black wig, but funnily enough she didn't think this was a suitable present for a 6 years old.
I also wanted a horse. Dunno why, never been riding, scared stiff of big animals. I blame Black Beauty and Follyfoot.

Dd wants a pet monkey
I remember always wanting something impossible though I can't remember specifics.
I do remember believing magic and the supernatural were true though

A big brother.....as I was the oldest in our family, there wasn’t much my mum and dad could do to facilitate that!

A big brother. Was heartbroken when my mum finally got it through to me that it wasn’t possible..

A video recorder. And a horse (although a horse was such a huge, impossible thing that I never got as far as actually imagining a life in which I could have one.)

I wanted lots of barbie dolls. Never got any. I also wanted a big hoover that tidies up my room and sorts everything in its correct place. And a chairlift to take me from home to school instead of having to walk. Do these count?

Fabellini Tue 17-Apr-18 21:22:23

@[MyKingdomForBrie] it was never meant to be!

I wanted my mum to drive over the bumps (i.e. sleeping policemen) fast rather than slowing down.

OdileDeCaray Tue 17-Apr-18 21:23:21

I wanted the Wishing Chair from the Enid Blyton books!

Yep a big brother for me too! I'm really pleased that DD has got one!

Cardilover Tue 17-Apr-18 21:23:48

An a la carte kitchen. I longed for the Swiss roll and beans. The height of sophistication.

And a giraffe.

TokyoSushi Tue 17-Apr-18 21:24:09

Oh yes. And to be wheeled to school in my bed! 🛏

I wanted a horse to live in the back garden. I thought the shed could be changed into a stable, and the horse could keep the grass short. The garden was definitely not big enough for a horse.

I begged for a bit brother and I can remember clearly, being about nine years old, when my mother cryptically replied ""We'll see".

At 15 I found out I had an older brother (10 yrs older), who had been adopted out.

My mother was amazed that I had remembered and understood.

He has never registered to find her.

To go to a boarding school like Mallory Towers or the Chalet School.

HildaZelda Tue 17-Apr-18 21:25:17

A sister. I was 5 when my brother was born and not happy, because he wasn't a girl. When I married DH, I got a horrible SIL, so I'm never going to have a sister sad

SoftSheen Tue 17-Apr-18 21:25:20

When I was about 11 and watched "The Tomorrow People" on tv, I wanted to be a Tomorrow person. Who could be telepathic and could teleport myself to places.
