When did you start feeling 'old'?

I'm genuinely curious. I have always felt quite young in the sense that I am in good health generally, have a younger partner and work/socialise with a lot of people who are younger than me. However, just recently, at 47, I feel old - invisible, tired, lacking in energy. Is it a blip or is this the beginning of a downwards spiral?

It’s happened to me these last few months. I’m 41. Hoping it’s a blip (and life circs).

When an adult I don’t recognise says hi D o you remember me -you were my Scout leader!

In the last few weeks. I have hit a wall with sleep deprivation and worrying. I'm only 36. I feel like a hundred.

sorry Op, my feeble attempt at humour smile

I am 53 next month, only just realised I am no longer 15, my health is OK, but I am overweight and the mirror sadly doesn't lie very well so I am officially old, roll on death ...

Oh god I'm 47 and I don't feel old! I have a progressive disease and right now it's not stopping me. My dc are still young (late parents) and I've been giggling about poo with my youngest this evening.
I'm middle aged and invisible which is fine but not OLD!

Today. I went to a restaurant and struggled to read the menu. I need reading glasses and that makes me feel old. I'm 46, nearly 47.

My son said to me "don't call me mate, it's really cringey" that was the moment I felt truly old. I am 28.

When you see people being interviewed on news from this or that job or department, so long enough to know their stuff, but look about 19.

I’ve actuskly started tutting and shaking my head to things I disagree with!!!!!! (42)

I bluffed my way through 60 with a big party .
61 I noticed I wasnt pinging back quite as quickly as I used to
62 was pretty much like 61
63 I was on a high as I was getting married twice that year
As I Turned 64 my husband had an unplanned stroke....unplanned as it wasn’t in the script until we were at least 90
That’s when I started to feel old as ‘ now things were happening’
66 now...every day is a bonus!

Dowser Sun 25-Feb-18 00:21:29

And I’ve been listening to Neil diamond today 😳

Tonight! It's my birthday and I've just got home after a night out, and thought midnight was a late one!

BitOfFun Sun 25-Feb-18 00:23:52

When I started having to scroll back a ridiculous amount on forms to find my year of birth.

sproutish Sun 25-Feb-18 00:24:37

Back in the day I used to leave the house at midnight for a night out and bowl back to my parents at 8am the next morning! Now I'm yawning in the pub at 9pm grin

GrockleBocs Sun 25-Feb-18 00:26:03

Dowser I listened to Neil diamond in my teens grin
All together now "Money talks. But it don't sing and dance and it don't walk..."

Lucky11111 Sun 25-Feb-18 00:32:26

... the first time one of my favourite songs was described on the radio as "a golden oldie" 😡

Ouch44 Sun 25-Feb-18 00:38:00

I am 47 next week and feeling like I'm old! Looking at the skin on my neck in mirror earlier and it seems to have aged all of a sudden. It's depressing. I feel about 35 and I'm not sure who this person is in the mirror!
And Emma Chambers passing away has made me feel even worse.
Sure I'll feel better after my birthday!

NotSoSureX Sun 25-Feb-18 00:42:22

I feel old when I think that current music/hair style / clothes style are silly. I remember what my mum used to say about fashion / music when I was a teen. I am 34 feels like I am 75.

BikeRunSki Sun 25-Feb-18 00:48:39

I’m also 47. I felt old last week when I walked into work and said “Morning Rat Fans” and only 1 person knew what I was in about.

That, and the realisation that my degree is older than half the office.

VladmirsPoutine Sun 25-Feb-18 00:50:29

Honestly, I felt like I was old when I was 29.

SleepIsForTheWeek Sun 25-Feb-18 00:52:15

We have the radio on in the office. One of my fave songs came on and my colleague said "I love this, my parents played it when I was little"

PickAChew Sun 25-Feb-18 00:54:54

40, when HMS caught up with me and joints gave in.

GrockleBocs Sun 25-Feb-18 00:56:51

Bike I have clothes older than some of my colleagues blush
