Go on, enlighten me wink

What would you do for you with your winnings? Nobody else. I too would give my family and close friends a life changing help, but most of us would do that.

I've entered, as I do every week, twice a week. Perhaps to some it's daft, spending £5 a week.

But, it's not just for a chance to win. It's the little bit of excitement building up to the draw. I enjoy that too.

As they say, play makes it possible, so what would you do with your winnings?

I'd buy a beautiful home, but decide the smaller details of what to do with my cash whilst on an all inclusive holiday. I'd also tell DH to quit his job there and then.

Yes we may still want to work at some point but we won't need to work so could just volunteer or something with animals. No need for our big City jobs anymore.

I'd buy myself a fabulous horse, beautiful breeding. And keep it in all inclusive livery in a London stable until I've made up my mind where we're going to buy our dream house.

DS is 9 weeks old and I'm adamant I wouldn't want a Nanny grin I love spending every minute with him. Cleaners and cooks are a definite yes though.

I'd build an eco house and have an amazing garden possibly keeping bees. I'd also go on lots of holidays.

Fekko Tue 23-Jan-18 18:22:37

An island. I’d buy an island (more Richard Brandon than Robinson Cruso) and just hide from the madness.

Onesmallstepforaman Tue 23-Jan-18 18:29:17

I'd buy sandybabytoes a drink for reminding me to do it. A nice drink tho

SandyBabyToes Tue 23-Jan-18 18:29:58

Fekko Is 71 enough for a private island?

Surely you'd have to have staff etc?

And it would have to be close enough for goods to be shipped in?

Anymajordude Tue 23-Jan-18 18:30:40

I'd also like a barn full of art materials, a kiln or two and a woodwork studio for DH.

Fekko Tue 23-Jan-18 18:31:08

No staff. Family might get in if they behave.

A ship would drop off my Waitrose supplies once a week and milk daily.

It doesn’t need to be a large island.

Fekko Tue 23-Jan-18 18:31:20

I’d have a cannon too.

KenForPM Tue 23-Jan-18 18:32:47

Buy a nice house. Buy myself a nice wardrobe. Give some to family, some to charity. Go on some lovely holidays. Dunno what else.

KenForPM Tue 23-Jan-18 18:33:08

Wardrobe referring to the clothes rather than the furniture grin

Anymajordude Tue 23-Jan-18 18:33:47

The island of Eigg in Scotland was bought by the community for 1.5 million.

I would buy A 500-600 acre self sufficient farm in northern USA miles and miles from the nearest human. I would build a nice house, make sure we have everything we need. The money that was left I would bury on the farm somewhere.

I would homeschool the kids and never have to leave the farm.

ChippingInLovesWoollyHugs Tue 23-Jan-18 18:35:33

I’d buy us WoollyHuggers a fabulous place to have our Retreat built. I’m not sure it would quite cover it, but it would be a good start 😂

BIWI Tue 23-Jan-18 18:37:49

There's no point any of you buying a ticket because I'm winning it all.

We were looking at property porn last night and decided that the £35M houses were vulgar and too large for us so we've decided that when our numbers come in, we're going to move to a house with a stunning view and then get a London pad for when we go and try out new restaurants and shows.

I actually spent quite a bit of time pondering this today, even got my calculator out!! First thing I’d do is setup a syndicate with my & DHs family so that we could all share without any silly tax implications smile but DH and I would both be in the syndicate as individuals so we’d get a slightly bigger share than the rest - now you see why I had that calculator wink

We’d immediately update our cars as both of us are driving around in complete bangers. I’d breathe a huge sigh of relief as DH types up his resignation, I’d somewhat reluctantly type mine too but bring realistic it’d be hard to squeeze in “work” whilst trying to manage all that money!! Then we’d take a holiday to get some head space and decide our longer term plans. A bigger house, luxuries like a piano, cinema room, a horse for DD (and DH would most likely want a race horse or a share in one!) I'd make it my business to find THE BEST hairdresser around and snare her/him for myself and book a personal shopper in Selfridges or similar to sort out the elusive capsule wardrobe fo me

Ahhh I could wile away the hours dreaming about my win smile

Good luck!

After the obligatory dividing it between my parents and my brother, I’d bung half in savings / investments and use the remainder to buy a small place in Mayfair and enjoy decorating and furnishing it with beautiful art and antiques. And I’d go on holiday.

I wouldn’t give up my job though. I’m training to be an accountant so having those kinds of skills would be useful to help me manage my money in the long run.

dannydyerismydad Tue 23-Jan-18 18:40:24

....shuffles off to buy ticket.

macnab Tue 23-Jan-18 18:42:26

Also, we have a cleaner who is amazing. I’d quadruple her pay, she’s worth it.

DearMrDilkington Tue 23-Jan-18 18:42:49

I'd buy a castle to live in. grin
It must have a pond in the grounds, so I could get lots of ducks, possibly some swans too.

Independentstateofeyebrows Tue 23-Jan-18 18:43:35

Buy a teeny gorgeous house with a teeny gorgeous garden on the coast outside Dublin, adopt a dog, buy a piano, go to uni and study just for the love of it, get my car fixed, get my furniture out of storage, buy that lovely blue coat I keep visiting in the shop <sigh>

hmmwhatatodo Tue 23-Jan-18 18:44:40

Just for me? Nice house in the same area I live in. Nice garden with someone to maintain it. Not green fingered at all. A summer house somewhere. Not massive, 3 bedrooms max. Teeth done. Some sort of super facial treatments. Probably attend lots of courses on cookery, sewing, flower arranging and so on. Maybe learn a new language. I think I’d also quite like some bee hives even though I know nothing about them. I’d peobaby take some sort of confidence boosting lessons if they even exist. I would also think about working 3 days a week. Would go mad if I didn’t have any structure to my day after some time.

Katescurios Tue 23-Jan-18 18:44:41

Nice house, nothing too big just a good space in a nice area. Decorated and furnished exactly how I like and by other people not me and YouTube videos☺

Brand new car, new clothes and loads of holidays. I'd probably spend every winter on a beach somewhere hot.

Work would never hear from me again 😀

MollyWantsACracker Tue 23-Jan-18 18:45:44

I’d buy somewhere lovely somewhere quiet & real & sunny, and a pied a terre nearby so that people could come and visit but not be in each others faces 24/7
I’d buy the house next door and do it up the way I’d like.
I’d go very, very part-time.
These are my immediate plans.
