Apple cider vinegar?

Anyone take Apple Cider Vinegar? If so, for what purpose.?
Fad or miracle?
I read an article about it last weekend, ordered some and just had my first dose! Jeez, that's a shock to the system in the morning. Please tell me your stories.

DH swears by it....he has some stomach issues, bloating and all that. Since he began drinking a bit daily in water, he's been SO much better.

I use it on bites and stings too.

It's horrendous for your teeth. I think it's what ruined my teeth. Consume only thru a straw.

SavvyFishFinger Fri 19-Jan-18 09:13:57

Softens skin over time.

SavvyFishFinger Fri 19-Jan-18 09:14:31

Linseed oil is best though

Chewbecca Fri 19-Jan-18 09:15:28

My colleague 'takes' it. He is slim (it is supposed to suppress appetite I think?) but has lots of teeth and stomach issues. Sounds daft to me.

I've never ingested it but I don't use shampoo and every so often I rinse my hair with it (diluted in warm water) to clear any build up.

I am a member of a forum on Facebook where a lot of people swear by it (the group is for Addison’s disease where we all have to take daily life long steroids as our bodies don’t naturally make cortisol, taking steroids can cause stomach acid issues hence the apple cider vinegar). However almost everyone says it absolutely ruins your teeth so make sure you use a straw when you drink it!

No evidence for any magic powers.

VanillaSugarGlider Fri 19-Jan-18 10:07:28

I use it in salad dressings. I could never drink it neat not diluted.

SandAndSea Fri 19-Jan-18 10:12:20

Yes, I take it every day - it helps keep my skin clear.

It's not advisable to take it neat as it can corrode the teeth. Check out Earthclinic.com, Ted's alkalising remedy, for a good recipe. (You add bicarb and water.)

WeeBeasties Fri 19-Jan-18 10:15:17

I mix it with Aztec healing clay to make a very very good face mask that sorts my acne right out. Never drank it though. Can't say i fancy it.

CheeseyToast Fri 19-Jan-18 10:21:31

I use it as conditioner and it's fantastic

cantucciniamaretto Fri 19-Jan-18 10:22:03

Fad.

ToadOfSadness Fri 19-Jan-18 10:22:15

If you drink it you need to buy it with 'the mother'.

Fekko Fri 19-Jan-18 10:22:52

What is it supposed to be good for? I pour it on salad with olive oil.

Bringondrunkfeb Fri 19-Jan-18 10:23:49

I’ve tried it on and off - never really noticed any benefits but it’s supposed to be a prebiotic so great for gut health. Agree, with mother.

Mindbodygreen is a good blog for this sort of thing.

PeonyTruffle Fri 19-Jan-18 10:38:30

I tried it. It was disgusting and I couldn’t drink it.

I don’t think I diluted it enough confused

Springiscoming123 Fri 19-Jan-18 10:40:05

i have it with the "mother" cant say i noticed any differrence

Sarahjconnor Fri 19-Jan-18 10:40:12

It got rid of my verruca when all else failed. I have tried drinking it in warm water to help my arthritis but I am not convinced.

DGRossetti Fri 19-Jan-18 10:53:51

Reminds me of the claims made for
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kombucha Kombucha]] a few years ago.

Whywonttheyletmeusemyusername Fri 19-Jan-18 10:56:18

I put it on the dogs water bowl to repel fleas !!

SandAndSea Fri 19-Jan-18 10:56:21

I also used it to get rid of verrucas. They had resisted every other treatment I could find out about. Taking ACV orally (with bicarb and water) worked in less than 2 weeks.

specialsubject Fri 19-Jan-18 10:58:55

That blog is horseshit central - food that ages, things that make hair grow faster and that's just recent posts.

Anyone got any evidence of the magic powers of this vinegar? No, of course not.

Velvetbee Fri 19-Jan-18 11:03:44

I was brought up on this in the 70's; drunk diluted in warm water/on bites, grazes etc. it's not a recent thing.
