My blue flowery dress - I would love one like it now.
Itchy tights and socks.
Salmon paste sandwiches that my aunt always used to make me eat.
Bullies at school.
Going upstairs to the toilet on my own at my granddad’s creepy house.
Most foods - I’m not at all fussy now.
Competitive sports.

Being left with mums friends/aunties/school mums to be looked after. None of them were nice. Why did they want to look after children when they didn’t like children?

Picnics. Grass in my drink, spilled drinks, dropped food, flies, bees, wind blowing my hair into my mouth, itchy blankets, lumpy ground. Just take me home and let me eat.

My dad had to work weekends so we’d all go with him squashed in the van so we got to spend time with him.
Summer holidays spent in the back of his van watching films. So boring.

Rudgie47 Fri 12-Jan-18 14:31:42

Polo neck jumpers
Having to wear wellington boots if it was raining.
Tights with holes in for decoration. I hated how I was dressed for school.
School dinners because the food was too poor quality to eat and if you didnt eat it you were shamed and bullied until you did.
Having to visit relatives every single weekend.

Going for a walk.
Just for the sake of it.
Not to the park or shops or to feed the ducks, just to walk.
I sort of see the appeal as an adult but as a child it was just so boring!

DonnyAndVladSittingInATree Fri 12-Jan-18 14:51:15

Agree poptart

I remember once my mum decided we were going on a walk so bundled us all into coats and hats (it was winter) and off we went. And we just kept walking and walking and whingeing the whole time. I suspect she had made a personal resolution to get fitter or something and maybe my dad wasn’t there to look after us or something. Anyway we finally got as far as my aunt’s house which was 6 miles from ours and she admitted defeat and called my dad to come and get us with the car. She did it again a few years later and when we finally got back to the house she had lost the house key and we had to sit in our neighbours house until my dad came home from work. hmm

DarthNigel Fri 12-Jan-18 14:56:49

Going to my childminder. She was very grumpy and strict and had no other kids to mind (she was a neighbour really that my mum paid). I was there from 3.30 to 6.20 daily with absolutely nothing to do. My mum still gets annoyed now about the time I ran away and went to play with my friend up the street. I'm only amazed I didn't try to break out more!
