Hmmm, do you think my mum's being pointed with this card?

She promises not, but . . .

MynewnameisKy Mon 18-Dec-17 21:58:13

What does it say inside?

HerRoyalNotness Mon 18-Dec-17 21:59:18

Well could be... but snowflakes are unique and special too.

As per PP, depends what she wrote inside

Sadik Mon 18-Dec-17 22:02:27

It does say inside 'you're one in a million'

Sorry - should have said 'lighthearted' in the title - I don't think my Mum is really being mean to me - though I strongly suspect her of taking the piss grin

Spookle Mon 18-Dec-17 22:27:27

It made me snort so was glad to read you're being lighthearted fgrin

I wouldn't have got the joke if not for MN as I learned the term here. Should be available in all sorts of variations, I'd buy the sister version fgrin

That's a very awkward card these days. The designers need to get with the times.

PanPanPanPing Tue 19-Dec-17 07:46:29

Maybe she hasn't heard of the term?! Like you, OP, I'd laugh about it though fgrin

smashbake Tue 19-Dec-17 07:56:45

Did she mean to be so rude? smile

MynewnameisKy Tue 19-Dec-17 13:20:09

I think it depends on the type of person your mum is. Is she usually passive aggressive?

If I got it from my Mum I would assume she means I am unique and special- which is what she would mean.

NKFell Tue 19-Dec-17 13:23:13

grin I love it!

Sadik Tue 19-Dec-17 16:41:38

"I think it depends on the type of person your mum is. Is she usually passive aggressive?"

No no, not at all! I think she thought it was hilarious that the makers didn't know what it meant, but also liked the 'one in a million' message inside. I think it would be fair to describe me as 'robust' so I'm not too worried she meant it seriously . . . (and as dd pointed out I am far too old to be one of the snowflake generation - thanks a bunch, dd).

Floellabumbags Tue 19-Dec-17 16:59:19

Aw, she thinks you're special 🤔😂

Howyoualldoworkme Tue 19-Dec-17 17:01:52

I'd buy the sister version too grin

HidingBehindTheWallpaper Tue 19-Dec-17 17:05:39

My mum sent my cat a Christmas card with ‘from Nanny’ in it.

We can’t have children..........

MaddeningtheUnhelpful Tue 19-Dec-17 17:18:45

At my daughters nativity last week there were 4 little girls dressed in white, introduced as 'The Snowflakes' I did wonder if their fantastic teacher is a mumsnetter... 😂

BulletFox Tue 19-Dec-17 17:48:21

That reminds me of when we moved back from abroad and the word 'chav' had been inserted into the lexicon. We thought WTF? And James Blunt was everywhere. It's like your home country has suddenly been invaded by aliens, if I ever hear you're beyooootiful I quiver in shock.

I don't think your mum is up on the modern usage...! Pretty card though

BulletFox Tue 19-Dec-17 17:55:47

Sadik what, you think she did it on purpose??

She's brilliant then, I luffs your mumgrin

Sadik Tue 19-Dec-17 17:58:03

I luffs my mum too BulletFox grin

Floellabumbags Tue 19-Dec-17 18:14:02

We all got Christmas cards from the in-laws today. We're seeing them tomorrow- they're nutso bonkers!

VeganIan Tue 19-Dec-17 18:28:51

Does it say something about "all you deserve" inside?

NoTeaForMe Tue 19-Dec-17 18:33:20

I haven’t been on MN for a while...what does snowflake mean?!

Screamer1 Tue 19-Dec-17 18:47:33

Dunno, but that made me lol.

BulletFox Tue 19-Dec-17 18:50:22

NoTea it's fairly recent in usage and in effect means awww, aren't you being a poor likkle thing.

CherryChasingDotMuncher Tue 19-Dec-17 18:53:09
