How many Dominos pizzas to order?

Bit of an odd question, but I'm trying to work out how many large pizzas we'll need for DS1's birthday party on Monday!

There will be 20 8/9 year old boys, they are doing an hour of football beforehand, we will also do some chips & provide some salad.

So can anybody please tell me how many children I can reasonably expect a large Domino pizza to feed?

Thanks in advance!

1/2 each - you'd be amazed how much kids can eat.

There was huge argument last time this was asked! I’d say 10, that gives you six slices each.

I would say 10 as well. Children seem to be able to eat loads of pizza!

9 slices of pizza each plus chips and salad and cake seems a bit too excessive Cake grin

Fekko Sat 16-Dec-17 14:47:03

If there is chips as well 10 should do it. I assume there's cake too?

At least 10. Also allow for the fact that as soon as there's pizza around any adults who are also there will help themselves.

I'd stick to margherita and Pepperoni, with an emphasis on Margherita. Anything else just seems to get left.

10, you'll need to apply for a second mortgage as well while you are at it.

12! Make sure you get a chicken with bbq base! Yummy! If you collect you can BOGOF

Fekko Sat 16-Dec-17 14:51:38

I usually just get margherita - less farting around with 'who eats meat/ham/pork?'

Fekko Sat 16-Dec-17 14:52:04

There's usually offers on on these.

Cue the umpteen posts about how you can buy four supermarket pizzas and a stick of garlic bread instead.

Have you seen the large pizzas! They are huge. Probably three slices each would be more than enough!

confusedofengland Sat 16-Dec-17 14:54:11

10 of the large ones shock Wow, I wasn't thinking it would be anything like that! Might have to rethink & look into cooking our own, we don't have that kind of budget!

Fekko Sat 16-Dec-17 14:55:40

We had a party with pizza for DS about that age and thought we'd too much - but they can certainly put it away, especially after sport

EmmaC78 Sat 16-Dec-17 14:57:41

You should be able to get a bit one get one free offer so you would only pay for 5.

thatstoast Sat 16-Dec-17 14:58:07

The last person who asked had teenagers which is a different game altogether. 2 slices each plus some chips would be fine. 5 large pizzas maximum.

ohhelpohnoitsa Sat 16-Dec-17 15:05:11

I would say
1. A large one will feed 3 BUT get dominos to cut it in to smaller slices. There's psychology here- getting 6 smaller pieces from the box seems way more than just 3 big pieces. Secondly parties around here with pizza have ditched the chips and offer "chips" in the form of tortilla/Doritos. Kids seem more than happy with that and some cucumber, carrot, pepper and apple. Dominos do bigof on collections or delivery before 6pm. Independent stores may well be happy to do you a better deal.

flumpybear Sat 16-Dec-17 15:06:29

I'd get 6 plus loads of chips and garlic bread

confusedofengland Sat 16-Dec-17 15:06:42

5 is more like the number I was thinking, tbh! I will also do a couple of big bags of oven chips & could maybe do some chicken nuggets to go with it. Then there will be ice cream for dessert & birthday cake.

The other option we had is a kids' sausage/veggie sausage & chips meal from our local chippy.

Would someone be able to collect them? If so they are much cheaper. Medium 2 topping pizzas are £5.99 collected, large £7.99.

confusedofengland Sat 16-Dec-17 15:10:38

Is that Dominos LikeSilver? In my area it is £14.99 for 2 large Cheese & Tomato, collected.

I will be collecting.

Consensus seems to be between 5 and 12, so maybe 8 pizzas between 20? Can you ask what flavours they like/are there any vegetarians?

The suggestions of only getting margarita or pepperoni seem a bit dull really, but maybe my pizza choices are unusual. I don't like pepperoni or other spicy stuff or chicken on pizzas, Given free choice, I would pick peppers, mushrooms, onions and olives, or tuna onions and olives. If they aren't available I'd stick to margarita, but its a bit dull.

Make sure you get an offer that is a minimum of 40% off the full price, or preferably BOGOF.

IHaveBrilloHair Sat 16-Dec-17 15:14:20

Margarita is a bit dull but it saves arguments and there's nothing to dislike.
