I'm sure we had this thread last year and the name looked very similar! Perhaps you have the same neighbour? I think it turned out to be something it really didn't look like.

Can you add a pic of the rest of the text (or would that be too revealing)? I'd need to compare those letters with other words they have written.

ShimmeringBollox Wed 13-Dec-17 21:21:01

Do you know their last name ?
Could you look on the electoral role ?

PurplePillowCase Wed 13-Dec-17 21:21:15

jang (asian?)
sams

Just write the whole of your christmas card back in semi legible handwriting thats really tiny or something. Then you can semi legibly write her name to look like it could be 'Jans' 'June' 'Suns' 'Sans'..... then she can just think you know her name but have odd writing

MyOtherNameIsAFordFiesta Wed 13-Dec-17 21:21:58

Could you show us the rest of the writing, to see whether it matches anything else?

Is she likely to have a local-sounding name? What sort of age group?

If you know which neighbour it came from and you want to send them a Christmas card back, could you just copy the exact name (in the same writing) in your card?

Janis.

The 'n' and the 'i' are joined but no dot for the 'i' so it's missed.

I'm not 100% sure but that's my best guess.

Yung/Jung? Tans?

Jenala Wed 13-Dec-17 21:24:30

Is it possible to see some of the other writing? Might be able to decipher the letters that way.

ihavetogoshoppingnow Wed 13-Dec-17 21:31:08

The rest of the card. She’s English in her 40s. DP had thought Janis but only ever known it spelt Janice?
