Why would someone have a bin filled with cement in their shed?

I've been thinking about this for years!

A few houses ago, I had a neighbour who had a tiny shed in his garden. In that shed there was a regular sized wheelie bin filled to the brim with cement. It had been poured in, it wasn't broken chunks or bits of paving slab.

Just... why? Why did he have it? What was the purpose? I've read far too many creepy crime novels to think of an innocent explanation. It doesn't help that he was a rather strange man who tried to steal my cat. He denied ever seeing her even when I could see she was locked in his tiny, creepy shed!

The wheels bin is full of cats.

Obviously the bin was full of cemented in cats. Your cat had a lucky escape.

Definitely sinister and nothing good ever came from a wheelie bin full of cement

ZigZagandDustin Wed 13-Dec-17 14:21:58

I'd say it was the only thing someone could find to mix their cement in, but then they didn't do the job and it just dried in there...

Goldenbug Wed 13-Dec-17 14:30:31

How did you see in the bin?

Thedrownedsubmariner Wed 13-Dec-17 14:35:10

Without doubt a corpse.

booboobutt Wed 13-Dec-17 14:35:46

Oh my god, definitely a body in there.

honeysucklejasmine Wed 13-Dec-17 14:36:43

Yeah, a body.

1happyhippie Wed 13-Dec-17 14:36:56

Creepy!
Did you get your cat back op?

WhatsInTheCreepyShed Wed 13-Dec-17 14:37:09

Goldenbug, the lid was off and when I tried to move the bin to get my cat he shouted at me, "DON'T TRY TO MOVE THAT. IT'S FULL OF CEMENT."

So strange. So creepy. My cat is fine, btw.

booboobutt Wed 13-Dec-17 14:38:22

Oh man, you missed the perfect opportunity to say "why's it full of cement then dude?!"

3luckystars Wed 13-Dec-17 14:38:48

You have to go back and find out.

Then report back if you make it out of there.

There is rather a lot of disturbing precedence on this.
It's been used quite a few times to hide dead bodies.

I bet a £10 that it was either lots of dead cats, or a human corpse.

If you ever meet anyone with containers filled with cement RUN VERY FAR AWAY!!

Honestly, I was about 37 weeks pregnant and couldn't move very fast so I didn't want to upset him by asking questions about his bin full of cement and have him lock me in his creepy shed and possibly stuff me in another bin full of cement. Though he couldn't have fit another bin in that little shed so who knows where I would have ended up.

Is he /was he married?
Mil previously lived with him?

Well, I just read the plot summary on wikipedia and, wow, that is a creepy book!
The neighbour lived alone but I did joke with my DP at the time that it was his mother in the bin...

WhatsInTheCreepyShed Wed 13-Dec-17 14:54:26

It was quite a few years ago and I haven't been back to that town in a while. I saw the house was up for sale on right move and the creepy shed is still there in the photographs but it looks like a young family have been living there. No idea what happened to my old neighbour.

PigletJohn Wed 13-Dec-17 14:56:48

do you mean cement (dry powder) or do you mean concrete?

cement is best stored in a damp-proof container with a lid.

HermionesRightHook Wed 13-Dec-17 15:00:00

Probably a cheap heavy doorstop.

Or he's the Cat Killer now and that was just practice.

PurplePillowCase Wed 13-Dec-17 15:01:33

a weight to stop the shed flying away?

WhatsInTheCreepyShed Wed 13-Dec-17 15:09:31

Sorry, PigletJohn, I do mean concrete. It was completely solid and set, not powder.

Sarahjconnor Wed 13-Dec-17 15:14:31

eddie - you stole my comment grin

SpecialAgentDaleCooper Wed 13-Dec-17 15:17:40

Probably a cheap heavy doorstop ....jeez! How big is the door?!
