"why the fuck would I" I hear you ask.

Moved into this house, after previous Tennant had painted everything black gloss, red and black emulsion, and yeah, general cave look.

We're moving out, and need to put tiles back to acceptable, we sorted rest of house, but left tiles.

Really can't afford to rip them off and replace, so wondered if this would work?

Why do you need to fix it if you didnt do it??

BastardGoDarkly Thu 23-Nov-17 16:51:53

We did an exchange, so you take as is, and have to put right any damage should you leave.

Painting everything black gloss is not damage.

Could you tile over the top with bargain basement tiles?

BastardGoDarkly Thu 23-Nov-17 17:00:27

Not really Battleax we swapped our shitty bungalow in the arse end of nowhere, for this lovely house smile

It is considered damage unfortunately, they've said it needs to go back to white sad

Battleax Thu 23-Nov-17 17:01:23

Oh okay. So worth it if you can fix the tiles?

BastardGoDarkly Thu 23-Nov-17 17:01:37

That may be an option grass if my master plan doesn't work grin

There are some videos on YouTube. Not sure how big an area you have to tackle, though.

Ah ok..that's shit!

Ive stripped paint from bathroom tiles begore..used some kind of scorch the earth paint stripper from b&q... and a fuck ton of scrubbers then re grouted /grout pen. Was a bastard of a job and so stinky make sure to open all your windows and thick gloves!

Good luck!

Behind the cooker, where its heated regularly I scratched a bit, just with my nail, and it came away pretty easily, so hoping that's what will happen.

There's 164 tiles confused

I got gloss paint off kitchen tiles in my old flat just with a paint scraper. If the tile underneath is properly glazed and flat it should be surprisingly easy. Good luck! I did need to regrout though.
