DS is at Uni (250 miles away) and has sent me this pic of a very itchy rash. I think it looks like a reaction to something. Can anyone set my mind at rest. Please.

Has he done the glass test?

Help him access healthcare. A 100 hour pharmacy? Mine is open til 9pm on a Sunday.

I think it's a good sign that it's itchy though isn't it.
Looks like maybe a reaction to something. Different washing powder?

Thigh? Anywhere else? I was like this along the seams of my clothes (so big bloody rows of red blusters anywhere where my clothing had seams) after I ate some mushrooms. Hot and itchy as hell.

I’d be encouraging him to go to a local pharmacy and speak to them.

If you/he is worried he needs to see someone. Difficult to diagnose a rash based on a photo.
He should go to go to a late opening pharmacy as per PP or out of hours GP.

Yes it's his thigh. I've suggested finding a late opening pharmacy but it fell on deaf ears with a 'God Mum'.

I'll get him to do the glass test.

He said it was itchy so scratched it a bit then actually looked at it.

No change in washing detergent. I'll ask him if he's eaten anything new.

Has he got any antihistimine? If it's a reaction that will calm it and stop the itching.

MaidenMotherCrone Sun 19-Nov-17 18:25:20

I'll get him to see if anyone in his flat has any antihistamines.

looks like hives to me...anti histamines and see if he can work out what caused it.

could be too hot or too cold, or something he ate?

Any progression to swelling/wheezing then things are much more serious and warrant an appointment somewhere fairly speedily imo.
