What is this flower? My cat is vomiting and worried it's a lily?

NewStartAgainReallyThisTime Sat 18-Nov-17 12:23:12

Yes I think it is. Vet asap anyway just in case

Looks like an orchid to me- but it could be a type of lily. I would contact a vet if you are worried. Hope your cat is ok.

Looks like a pink tiger lily to me. Call your vets for advice ASAP

NewStartAgainReallyThisTime Sat 18-Nov-17 12:24:05

I googled lily and got this. It's a medical emergency. Vet now.

Looks more like an orchid

Foxyloxy1plus1 Sat 18-Nov-17 12:24:56

I would have said an orchid because it doesn't seem to have the yellow pollen stamens in the middle.

ProfessorCat Sat 18-Nov-17 12:25:20

It's not a lily, it's an orchid.

wowfudge Sat 18-Nov-17 12:25:40

It's a cymbidium orchid. Former florist here.

dementedpixie Sat 18-Nov-17 12:25:52

As it doesnt have the stamen bits sticking out i don't think it's a lily

DartmoorDoughnut Sat 18-Nov-17 12:26:07

I think it’s a pink orchid

Moogletea Sat 18-Nov-17 12:26:37

I stand corrected. I’d still call vets though

Nel1975 Sat 18-Nov-17 12:26:54

It is a Pink Cymbidium Orchid

AlternativeTentacle Sat 18-Nov-17 12:26:59

It is an orchid.

Google seems mixed as to whether orchids are poisonous. Personally, I would take the chance.

FrogsLegs31 Sat 18-Nov-17 12:27:48

Totally agree with @wowfudge cymbidium orchid

wowfudge Sat 18-Nov-17 12:29:13

They aren't poisonous to cats OP.

VenusStarr Sat 18-Nov-17 12:29:42

Thanks for the quick replies. I also sent the pic to a friend and former florist and she said orchid, non toxic to cats and dogs. She replied just after I posted this!

Again I’d say orchid, but I’d take your cat to the vets just in case.

It doesn’t look like the image posted of lilys. No stamen with the bright pollen, petal shape is different and also the petal pattern / arrangement is different. That inner spotty petal is much more an orchid thing than a lily thing.

I see a florist has said it’s an orchid too, which is good news.

Here's a guide

Unfortunately it is one cats are supposed to avoid. My cat did something similar many years ago was sick a few times then fine and still here many years later so hopefully she'll be fine but check with vet.

wowfudge Sat 18-Nov-17 12:31:27

I checked a list of plants poisonous to cats and orchids weren't listed. Best thing to do is ring a vets that's open today and ask advice over the phone. My guess is that they'll tell you to bring the cat in if there are signs of x, y, z or she has actually eaten a flower.

Ah, crossed posts. Happy healthy cat, yay!
