Utterly compelling. Not sure how he has passed me by for so long!

I'm playing random songs on YouTube. Haven't quite figured where to start with albums.

The Boatmans call.

NecklessMumster Sun 22-Oct-17 14:33:01

Its lovely but can make you sad. Murder Ballads too gory

His most recent, Skeleton Tree, is marvellous. Have you see the films, One More Time with Feeling (about making it) and also 20,000 Days on Earth (a day in the life of). Well worth watching.
Push the Sky Away is another favourite of mine.

And no more shall we part. That's my bath music. But they're all lovely.

AlternativeTentacle Sun 22-Oct-17 14:50:31

no more shall we part is fantastic. They are all fantastic. He is ace.

WhatAPunch Sun 22-Oct-17 14:51:50

Thanks.
Might check out the films tonight.

I like how sad and dark some of it is. It was a couple of his recent ones that hooked me in.

Mysharonawoana Sun 22-Oct-17 14:52:43

His song ‘into my arms’ makes me weep.

Scarydinosaurs Sun 22-Oct-17 14:52:43

Into my arms is amazing.

Mysharonawoana Sun 22-Oct-17 14:53:14

Agree with pp suggestions, also have a listen to Lyre of Orpheus.
Saw them at the O2 last month, they were amazing. Red Right Hand blew me away. Also love The Ship Song and Higgs Boson Blues.

Mrsfrumble Sun 22-Oct-17 14:54:31

Congratulations on your most excellent discovery! Boatman's Call is my personal favourite.

WhatAPunch Sun 22-Oct-17 14:55:28

DC due home so have switched to more cheerful music. But will check out the rest later.
Realise I've just missed UK tour dates.

doctorcuntybollocks Sun 22-Oct-17 16:32:31

I love his novel 'And the Ass Saw the Angel'. Fantastically dark southern gothic.

thefudgeling Sun 22-Oct-17 18:13:04

Let love in. My fave.
No more shall we part
Kicking against the pricks (covers album).

Nick Cave and the bad seeds are the best.

liquidrevolution Sun 22-Oct-17 18:35:50

The song 'breathless' is my all time favourite although weirdly unlike his other songs. It reminds me if DD and i sob each time i hear it

The lyre of orpheus is my fave album. Not heard his latest yet. Its on my xmas list as i am difficult to buy for so i have to be patient.

Squeee Sun 22-Oct-17 18:56:19

I remember reading good reviews of the recent film. It's not available to stream online so will need to wait. I think the other film might be better when I know more of the music.

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow Sun 22-Oct-17 20:23:23

Think the film is on Amazon Prime.
I love most, but have a soft spot for Murder Ballads, goes from bleakest tragedy to hysterically obscene. Maybe not one for singing in the car with the DC.
