Anyone want some 5am solidarity ??
I'm overnight babysitting DGS. He's 18 months old and I adore him with every fibre of my being. I've 'slept' in parents bed while they've got in late and slept on a sofa bed in my DS 'office' at the bottom of the garden. He settled beautifully at 8pm and slept until 4am when I went in to him stood up in his cot - aaarrgghh !
Following instructions to bring him straight into bed where he should settle back off, I've spent an hour patting and shushing a little skeleton- pyjammed boy while he pointed at me with amazement 'grandma ?!'
We are now downstairs with cheerios and kids telly on thlsmile

Ah well. This is my third wake up feed of the night and I fully intend on going back to sleep if I can.

Aww you sound like an amazing Grandma! Currently trying to get a 3 month old back to sleep here

HashtagTired Sun 22-Oct-17 05:20:35

...to be clear, it’s not me that feels the need to eat every 2 hours 20 minutes...

4th wake up so far between my 2. Oldest will probably be up for the day in an hour. Desperately hope I can get a bit more sleep before then.

PussCatTheGoldfish Sun 22-Oct-17 05:26:40

I woke at 4 thinking I should tidy up whilst everyone is asleep and make the most of it hmm.

I seem to be waking at that time a lot at the moment and rather than lying there worrying feel I should do something constructive... Er, like MN grin.

I'm just glad he didnt go into meltdown when he saw me. I look after him Mondays and Fridays during the day but have only done overnighters 3 or 4 times since he was born. I feel for you all, I can enjoy snuggles and his glow in the dark pjs because its not every night ! I've had five though so I remember the despair well

This is my second wake up night feed with my 5 month old dd. Had her feed around 4am and still not settling down. I’m up and down from bed to her cot whilst Dp is snoring his head off!
Time for a brew methinks.

3rd feed for my 4 week old. He also has bronchiolitis I've been woken up by his breathing going weird a few times too. Toddler will be up shortly. I'm so tired.

HashtagTired Sun 22-Oct-17 06:03:51

My one never settles well after the 5am ish wake up. Sigh. Still trying to get him to settle now....

CountDuckulaTheSqueaky Sun 22-Oct-17 06:04:09

Wheresthemoney Sun 22-Oct-17 06:19:56

I've been awake since 5am with Dd. This is a daily occurrence for her.

Hatstand Sun 22-Oct-17 06:30:03

I too now have Bjork in my head.

Growuphelen Sun 22-Oct-17 06:33:56

flowers for you all. After a nappy change, a bit of milk and a few cheerios he climbed onto my knee and fell asleep ! We've slowly made our way back to bed and he is currently laid on me, across me, pulling my hair, throttling me and snoring very snottily. Parents will be getting up to hangovers and a toddler with a cold.

Growuphelen Sun 22-Oct-17 06:38:11
