3 adults and 4 kids (6-11 years). What would put out for a buffet lunch?
Ham, tuna and cheese sarnies?
Sausage rolls?
lemonade, squash, tea and shloer type thing?
crisps?

As I am proper craving bagels today, I'd do build your own bagels with ham, cheese, salad etc. Then probably a couple of bowls of crisps, nothing too fancy.

HundredMilesAnHour Sat 21-Oct-17 15:05:17

No vegetables/salad at all????

Caulk Sat 21-Oct-17 15:07:00

I’d probably make a quiche or have a sliced up pizza, a few different salads, some humous, cheese, cold meat and some nice breads. Maybe crackers too.

BrieAndChilli Sat 21-Oct-17 15:16:00

I’d roast a chicken and a small ham, some crusty bread, a couple of cheeses, salad, maybe a pizza or quiche, some crisps and dip.

rogueantimatter Sat 21-Oct-17 15:21:53

I would put out

Salad
Bread
Cheese
Hummus
Carrot, celery and pepper sticks
pizza
olives
Tuna mayo
cold meat
Mini scotch eggs
slices of apple
grapes
cherry toms

Depends if it is a
'I'll leave this on the table and people can eat when they are ready / when they get in as I'm going out before they get in'

type things or a

'Little Johnny's birthday party' type buffet'

As that makes a difference.

Your menu looks a bit sad

Agree with the suggestions upthread

But lol at the incredulity of no vegetables

Mummaofboys Sat 21-Oct-17 15:35:42

Can you not do something a bit more exciting? A little bit healthier too?

BarbaraofSevillle Sat 21-Oct-17 16:44:12

Plenty of people would be perfectly happy with sandwiches, crisps and sausage rolls and wouldn't touch hummus and veg sticks. OP, you know your audience. Is this the type of food they like?

moomoogalicious Sat 21-Oct-17 16:49:26

I'm doing a buffet tonight for 11:

Cooked chicken
Gammon
Tabbouleh
Tomato salady thing
Pizzas for younger kids
Crispy duck and pancakes
Spring rolls
Garlic bread
Cheese and crackers
Trifle for pud

HarrietKettleWasHere Sat 21-Oct-17 16:52:18

I love mini yorkshires with roast beef, dab of horseradish and a few chopped chives on top at a buffet.

But yes, it's about your audience really. Would they appreciate a cheese and pineapple hedgehog?

MrsMotherHen Sat 21-Oct-17 16:52:28

butties, crisps, sausage rolls, quiche, small cooked meat platter, coleslaw, salad bowl, fruit salad bowl.

That1950sMum Sat 21-Oct-17 16:53:14

You have to include a quiche!

I'd do mini tomatoes as most kids like them and a nice big, green salad.
Garlic bread
Cooked meats
French bread
Pate

NapQueen Sat 21-Oct-17 16:54:12

Sliced tiger loaf and proper butter
Cooked sliced chicken breast
Olives
Sliced cucumber
Cherry tomatoes
Loose mixed lettuce
King prawns
Salad dressings
Chicken dippers with sweet chilli sauce
Maybe a thin margharita pizza

Big bowl of mixed berries
Mini chocolate brownie squares
Greek yoghurt

Water, cloudy lemonade, fruit juice boxes. Is wine suitable?

OlennasWimple Sat 21-Oct-17 16:55:18

As someone up thread said, it depends on the circumstances.

It's actually harder to do a decent buffet for a small number of people, as you need a good variety of stuff or it seems a bit sad, but you also don't need too much stuff unless you are OK eating left overs for a few days

ShimmeringBollox Sat 21-Oct-17 17:03:39

Cold sliced ham or beef.

Rice salad

Green salad

Cheeses and chutney and crackers

Tray bake desserts

waitingforlifetostart Sat 21-Oct-17 18:25:04

Homemade sausages? My cookery skills aren't that good!

CappuccinoCake Sat 21-Oct-17 18:28:31

Buy a pack to frozen cocktail sausages and just heat them up!

ShimmeringBollox Sat 21-Oct-17 18:28:50

Just buy some and cook them. grin
I sometimes do a honey and mustard glaze / dressing and put it over them before cooking.

waitingforlifetostart Sat 21-Oct-17 18:30:30

Ah it said homecooked rather than homemade!
