This is what's printed on Brabantia bin bags. Bought a bin this week and some bags came with it.

How can anyone in marketing ever think this is appropriate?

We've had Ikkle bubba cots and Slimeypig gym recently. What next?

Fauchelevent Sat 21-Oct-17 08:52:54

I mean it’s a bit twee and embarrassing but it’s not inappropriate.

RunningOutOfCharge Sat 21-Oct-17 08:53:01

Can’t get too wound up over that tbh

PinkHeart5914 Sat 21-Oct-17 08:59:02

I kind of like it tbh

CustardOmlet Sat 21-Oct-17 08:59:58

I love it, that would entertain me! But then I’m simple and easily pleased grin

MeT00 Sat 21-Oct-17 09:01:29

You don't think it's tacky putting out bin bags like that? I watch our binmen running about like mad - the council keep changing contractors to save money so lots of staff cuts are being made.

These binmen have a horrible enough job to do. Work for minimum wage and are now faced with a pretentious bag like that??

MorrisZapp Sat 21-Oct-17 09:02:28

That's beyond cringey. Bloody ghastly.

FenellaMaxwellsPony Sat 21-Oct-17 09:02:39

I don't think stopping to read the bags plays a huge part of the job, tbh.

StepAwayFromCake Sat 21-Oct-17 09:03:00

Boastful hmm

LaurieFairyCake Sat 21-Oct-17 09:03:29

Well that’s the smuggest phrase I’ve heard for a while

I also agree about the bin people. They do a pretty hard job and I’d feel a right twat putting out bags like that - which mostly contain dog shit and dead dahlias.

StepAwayFromCake Sat 21-Oct-17 09:03:40

Not you, OP - the binbags. I'm agreeing with you.

FenellaMaxwellsPony Sat 21-Oct-17 09:03:51

Sorry - to clarify that, I'm not implying they can't or don't read! The bin men here are like a well oiled machine - the speed they work at, there's no way they're reading the bags!

LaurieFairyCake Sat 21-Oct-17 09:04:56

There’s a bit in the Kondo book that resonated with me about this - it was about too many words on packaging and labels and how they ‘shout’ at you.

I don’t like excessive words, I like the world to be quieter and for me to look for words I want to hear.

KoalaD Sat 21-Oct-17 09:05:11

Ugh. I don't think I'd be able to bring myself to use them. Who wants to brag via their bin bag?! hmm

I watch our binmen running about like mad

This is bizarre to me. Out binmen don't even leave the automated trucks.

FenellaMaxwellsPony Sat 21-Oct-17 09:08:58

@KoalaD How is it bizarre? Not everyone will live in the same circumstances as you. We live on a terraced street so in order to not leave their truck, the binmen would have to drive over people's parked cars!

MeT00 Sat 21-Oct-17 09:09:07

KoalaD - We have three different recycling bins which get emptied in to larger ones which are then put on to the back of the automated part of the truck. Our bin men really get a workout here and it really does look like they are under great time pressure.

KoalaD Sat 21-Oct-17 09:11:13

Well, that's why I said it was bizarre to me. No big deal.

AdalindSchade Sat 21-Oct-17 09:13:37

That's bloody awful. Can you use regular bin bags? I would be too embarrassed.

forfuckssakenet Sat 21-Oct-17 09:15:15

Pretty certain bin men aren't on minimum wage and don't think they'll give a toss about your weird bin bags.

CustardOmlet Sat 21-Oct-17 09:17:29

I doubt it’s going to change the way the bin men handle your rubbish, or delay them to read every bag! Plus most people have black bins to put their rubbish in so the bin men will never touch or see them.

MeT00 Sat 21-Oct-17 09:23:08

We produce so little landfill rubbish that that is the actual bin bag that will be going out tomorrow. It's going to be going out facedown on the pavement. Luckily there was only 3 free samples.

CourtneyLoveIsMySpiritAnimal Sat 21-Oct-17 09:23:49

Try Aldi bin bags if you’re so worried about what the bin men think.

They’re a very minimalist, chic black.

MeT00 Sat 21-Oct-17 09:26:30

Courtney - it's not only the binmen I'm thinking about offending. I think anyone walking along the street would think "pretentious wanker"

fairyofallthings Sat 21-Oct-17 09:28:50

Their average salary is about 16k I believe.
