What would you do with it?
Generous family member has given me some money and I have no idea what to spend it on. I have two dc one 13 one 1 month and dh
So I'm hoping to be inspired by some of your ideas

My head says driving lessons but my heart says some great days out on the run up to Christmas! Day out in York, Santa express on the local railway (an eye watering £70 for us to go for 2 hours), Christmas show at the theatre. That sort of thing.

I like the sound of InDubiousBattle's ideas.

In reality, I'd pay my dad back the £300ish I owe him and then use the rest to buy the girls some new winter clothes without worrying that I "only have £x to spend on them both & that's HOW MUCH!?"

x2boys Fri 20-Oct-17 16:40:42

I would either put it towards a holiday next year or Xmas.

Good idea for the driving lessons, got too many clothes to count and half of them are never worn so I'm trying not to buy more.

A weekend away.

Personally - winter clothes for me and the DC.

As you have loads of clothes - what about putting it towards a getaway at the first half term after Christmas?

Leatherboundanddown Fri 20-Oct-17 17:12:46

I would buy a coffee machine and spend the rest on getting my car serviced.

notacooldad Fri 20-Oct-17 17:14:04

Book a 5 day break to somewhere in Europe, probably Berlin again.

LiveLifeWithPassion Fri 20-Oct-17 17:17:41

I’d go away too.

JKR123 Fri 20-Oct-17 17:45:23

I would put it in savings for a rainy day. If money wasn't an option I would perhaps spend some time at the spa and put the rest in my children's ISAs.

Buy myself a Rab/north face coat, Chinese takeaway for us all and pay my catalogue off

Homemadearmy Fri 20-Oct-17 17:50:05

I'd treat the kids to a nice day out or activity and use the rest on bills

seasidesally Fri 20-Oct-17 17:52:19

i would give your teen £50 to spend as she wishes

buy myself something i really like, clothing, make up etc that i always didnt because it seemed indulgent

maybe something small for DH

Replace my kindle, and put the rest in savings for maternity leave

Crunchymum Fri 20-Oct-17 18:09:29

All on my credit card, sadly!!

Katedotness1963 Fri 20-Oct-17 18:39:51

Put the money towards Christmas.

maddiemookins16mum Fri 20-Oct-17 18:42:06

I'd book a Christmas market trip for me and DP and send DD to DGM.

OodleDoodleBug Fri 20-Oct-17 19:30:31

A decent bean to cup coffee machine, and the rest towards ongoing house decoration.

MinnowAndTheBear Fri 20-Oct-17 19:35:44

Go to Center Parcs for a long weekend.

Invisimamma Fri 20-Oct-17 19:43:57

I’d be able to get my son the games console he wants for Christmas 🎄 and a bit left over to put towards our holiday next year.

StealingYourWiFi Fri 20-Oct-17 19:52:49

Center Parcs for a midweek in March and a big shop at Primark grin

Theresnonamesleft Fri 20-Oct-17 19:57:25

Put it in an ISA and add to it my Tax rebate.
Then book a holiday in 2019. After this year and next year, it will be really needed.

Ohwell14 Fri 20-Oct-17 19:59:16

I think Christmas is going to end up winning it. Will probably end up going crazy on decorations

isawahatonce Fri 20-Oct-17 20:05:59

Put it in my savings account to go towards a deposit on a house. If I weren't allowed to do that, I'd go on holiday. I haven't had a holiday in a long time.
