What do you look back on and think was your biggest waste of money? I spent over £500 on Jonas Brother concert tickets...twice! Whenever money is tight I think if only I hadn't spent that money blush

Mulberry bag. I love it but it’s a bit heavy for everyday use and too big for going out special occasions. I wince every time I remember how much it cost.

A sterling silver, Asprey & Garrard cutlery set. It's beautiful, I got a good discount as they were a client at the time but it cost £££ and I hardly ever use it.

To be honest a lot of stuff blush

I am more sensible now but I dread to think how much I've frittered over the years.

Heartofglass12345 Thu 19-Oct-17 21:34:47

I would also say wedding but it was worth it too lol. Especially the cake, it was the best cake ive ever had. Mmmm. I do wonder why i spent £1000 on my dress sometimes now its in a bag in the cupboard, covered in drinks that someone spilled over me shock

I paid nearly 2 grand to send my son on a ski trip only for him to “feel ill” on the first day and do zero skiing the whole week.

Although not as bad as the girl who fell out with her friends on the journey there and her father flew out there to collect her and flew her back (England to Switzerland!!) crazy.

Who pepper? Lol
I can't think of anything at the moment...Ive always been a bit careful.

Our first house which immediately sunk into negative equity and we are still having to rent out.

A boat

Not extending my leasehold when I first bought my flat. The original freeholder sold out to one of those freehold bandit companies, and it cost me thousands extra. Just thinking about it still hurts 10 years later, because I'm normally good with money.

PepperSteaks Thu 19-Oct-17 21:40:33

Just realised I put brother and not brothers. All that money and don't even know the name of the band blush. When I think about the money I spent on t shirts, CDs, DVDs and everything else it makes me feel a bit sick! Could have been a good whack towards my house deposit I needed a few years later envy (not envy)

woollyminded Thu 19-Oct-17 21:45:20

Cars cars cars. Stupid things with their constant stupid problems, tax, insurance, filling up, washing, polishing. We're even expected to buy them their own stupid ugly house next to ours with its own special path. At least you can have a nice conversation with a horse.

My be rich if I'd never had them

AWaspOnAWindowInAHeatwave Thu 19-Oct-17 21:55:12

Ditto TurquoiseTambourine. I’ll have that house till I die.
On a much smaller scale, those pre-shaped wax strips for your eyebrows. I must have spent hundreds over the years, each time thinking “they’ll work this time...” only to be left with scabby skin and wonky brows every single time.

Cat fountain here too, he prefers the tap or a huge bucket that he shares with the dogs

Gannicusthemannicus Thu 19-Oct-17 21:58:34

How can you say you regret the Jonas Brothers? They were quality! grin

My biggest waste of money has probably been my degree. I'm in about £56,000 worth of student debt now.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar Thu 19-Oct-17 21:58:36

I'm not sure that it was strictly speaking a waste of money, but I have spent a LOT on books. I've been using Amazon since 1998, and in about 2002 I was bored at work and started to add up how much I'd spent with them. I felt a bit faint and stopped adding up (I didn't stop buying books though).
