Posted by a friend on FB. Does anyone have any idea what this is?

RebelRogue Wed 18-Oct-17 21:44:13

Door stopper thingy?
Cat toy?

MeatAndPotato Wed 18-Oct-17 21:44:52

Not sure but looks like jade hmm

NosugarNocalories Wed 18-Oct-17 21:44:56

Door stop? Shoe stretcher?

hangingkebab Wed 18-Oct-17 21:45:44

Haha my first thought was mouldy tampon. Sorry.

Is it made of cheese?

wowfudge Wed 18-Oct-17 21:46:23

Back massager/scratcher?

Snap8TheCat Wed 18-Oct-17 21:46:34

Any context to the question being asked?

ImMissHannigan Wed 18-Oct-17 21:50:07

No context other than it is in friends possession and she has no idea what it is for. It looks to be marble or similar with a springy type attachment. And probably quite old. I’ll ask where it’s from

Gingernaut Wed 18-Oct-17 21:51:47

Is that a spring or a screw thread?

ImMissHannigan Wed 18-Oct-17 21:55:20

Ooh, I assumed springy but could be screwy! 😁
I have asked her. I’m intrigued as it clearly has been made for a very specific purpose. I wonder if it is an old fashioned solution to a problem or now just an old fashioned problem that has a modern technological solution.

Shoe stretcher?

Caulk Wed 18-Oct-17 21:59:21

How big it is would help.

Caulk Wed 18-Oct-17 22:00:03

I’m about 90% sure if it’s springy that it’s a shoe stretcher.

LittleLights Wed 18-Oct-17 22:00:34

Antique baby toy?

Time40 Wed 18-Oct-17 22:01:40

I'm pretty sure it's a door stop.

ImMissHannigan Wed 18-Oct-17 22:14:30

So it’s marble and very springy if this helps. And she doesn’t think it is as old as we may think.

RedastheRose Wed 18-Oct-17 22:48:56

Not a shoe stretcher as they are formed to stretch the shoe around a foot shape so this wouldn't work.

Can't see it being a doorstop either.

No idea what it could be instead though.

LadyWire Wed 18-Oct-17 23:09:59

I'd say a door stopper

Crispbutty Wed 18-Oct-17 23:34:24

Door stopper. Gets fixed to skirting board.

Gingernaut Thu 19-Oct-17 13:22:28

It looks like a door stopper, but made of marble?

RedastheRose Thu 19-Oct-17 23:41:15

Wouldn't work as a doorstop. Can't be fixed to the wall and could easily be smashed as a door was flung open!

Gingernaut Fri 20-Oct-17 00:09:45

Agree. This can't be a door stopper...

FeralBeryl Fri 20-Oct-17 00:26:16

If it’s a screw, maybe a weird door handle. Knob (fnar) one side, stick thingy on the other.

FeralBeryl Fri 20-Oct-17 00:28:08

It looks like a posh toilet flush handle too although don’t know how well that would work if it’s a spring grin

NoCryLilSoftSoft Fri 20-Oct-17 00:33:31

It looks like the rough end was fixed into a wall or soemthing.

Could it be a bell pull? How springy is the spring? Can you extend it? Is there a hole in the other end?
