He’s not even little! He’s 13 and has a horrible fever and needed a cuddle, he’s dosed up and nodded off and now I have a dilemma.

Dh is on a late shift, will be home at 1am. Ds sleeps on a top bunk, no way would dh sleep up there for fear of collapsing in ds2.

Would you wake ds and tuck him up in his own bed where he’ll sleep in later in the morning or leave him and sleep in the top bunk yourself risking an early morning for everyone?

Can you take the top bunk? Text dh and say ds is in your bed poorly so youve took the top bunk so he doesnt have to.

I'd move ds to prioritise a lie in for him if you think he'll sleep in better in his own bed.

Shift ds2 up to the top bunk and text DH telling him to sleep in the bottom bunk

See I’m used to dh coming in whilst I’m asleep and it never wakes me, I think ds would wake though. Plus I’m an early riser and will wake ds2 getting up from the top bunk above him.

Just for one night would DH manage with a bed made up on the sofa if you messaged him to let him know? Not ideal but might be an option for one night.

My husband sleeps on the sofa when my daughter steals his side on during a late shift.

Take the mattress off top bunk and put it on the floor for dh?

Not sure about the sofa, he needs proper sleep and a lay in due to another shift tomorrow night. Emergency service worker so needs quality sleep.

Snap8TheCat Sat 23-Sep-17 23:17:20

Bingo! The mattress on the floor!

Ds does that too. I leave him.

He woke at about 12.30 so I used the opportunity to give him more meds and tuck him up in his own bed. He’s still got a temp this morning but seems cheerier for having a decent sleep. Poor boy, can’t remember the last time he was ill.
