Anyone make a big deal of this? DD always dresses up & goes trick or treating but we don't decorate & have never had a party.

my ds always loved it and dressed up, on mn it's 50/50

cue lots of 'it's begging/witchcraft posts'.

I love it though my favourite season

We live Halloween 👻

I decorate outside hugely and had over 100 trick or treaters last year...

This year DD is having her birthday party Halloween themed grin

Same here MaryPoppins, but we've moved to Derbyshire from London this summer so I don't think we'll get quite so many this year. Still planning to decorate the house/garden though!

Yes, I'm impatiently waiting for 1st October so I can put my outside decorations up. If I had the cash I'd buy those huge decorations from Costco. Maybe next year?

I prefer bonfire night.

Penny for the guy?.

My kids are too old for guising now but we decorate and have treats on hand for any kids that come to the door.

We do a huge amount for halloween including a party for my teens and their friends. Funnily enough we never really bothered with trick or treating when the kids were small.

We have a large amount of decorations now including two full size skeletons, black lights, smoke machine, talking giant pumpkin, halloween wreath and animated macbeth witches (new this year). We actually have more halloweeen decorations than christmas ones.

We normally have around 100 kids so always make an effort with treats and dressing up. This year we are giving our filled mini mummy pinatas and the usual glowsticks. The americans on pinterest have the best ideas for fun sweet giving.

Halloween is the one day a year you can treat the neighbourhood kids without people thinking you are up to no good so it's always nice to give something back to the little ones.

littlemissangrypants you could put your glowsticks in a cauldron full of water beads and make them fish for it? Always goes down well.

We decorate inside and out - the whole front garden turns into a spooky lantern-lit graveyard. We do trick-or-treating, but we're in Ireland where that's very much the norm. We've moved house since last Halloween though so I don't know how many callers we'll have; we used to have loads. I'd always think DH had overdone it buying the treats and then we'd have none left!

like many traditional festivals, I find it has been ruined by over commercialisation. Much like xmas really.

MyBreadIsEggy Fri 22-Sep-17 09:22:19

Yes grin
Ds's birthday is just before Halloween, so we do a big halloween/birthday party and decorate the front room like we would at Christmas. I make loads of Halloween-themed food, games etc. We carve lots of pumpkins and buy all different coloured gourds and squashes to decorate the house with.

as kids we always dressed up and trick or treated but nothing else.

i have a little gang of nieces and nephews now so this year we are going to have a party. just an excuse for a family get together really but they all get on and im sure it will be great fun.

gingerbreadmam Fri 22-Sep-17 09:29:14

if anyone has any party game food ideas for kids ages 1.5 - 14 id love to hear them. Scoutee pinterest but anything helps.

MyBreadIsEggy Fri 22-Sep-17 09:34:28

gingerbread I'll have kids between 5-0 at ds's birthday party, and I'll be doing a different version of apple bobbing (I don't fancy flooding my living room with spilled water!). I'm going to tie string to apples, then pin them to the door from sonthey hang down, the kids have to take a bite without touching the apple with their hands.
Also "guess the witches body part" - I'll tell a story of a witch and put things like peeled grapes for eyeballs, sausages for fingers etc in a bin bag and they have to stick their hand in and feel around to guess what it is.

Oh fab. think we are doing to do the donuts on string game for definite. i wondered about a pin the tail on the donkey type game and similar to the witches one you have planned but with boxes however yours sounds more straight forward so might go for that one.

i saw witches hat hoopla with glow sticks on pinterest so might give that one a go too.
