Are you the qualified keeper of an older teenaged boy?

Does said teenager stand outside making whooping noises?
I ask because the lad next door has spend a good chunk of the summer holidays standing outside making noises. As far as I know he is NT. He is about 19/20.
Is this a teenaged boy thing? Is it a thing they do?

ImperialBlether Wed 23-Aug-17 16:39:06

Why is he making the noise? Is he responding to something or just doing it? 19/20 sounds far too old to be doing it, anyway.

Anecdoche Wed 23-Aug-17 16:39:20

mine do. but they are not NT. i have no real experience of NT teenage boys but I am led to believe they are weird creatures so it doesn't surprise me one bit 😁

tell him to pack it in.

I've got one that age & two a bit older and none of them do that.

ThroughThickAndThin01 Wed 23-Aug-17 16:42:09

It's be got some that sort of age, and no they don't do that.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen Wed 23-Aug-17 16:43:08

I can't quite picture what you mean...

ThroughThickAndThin01 Wed 23-Aug-17 16:43:26

I've got some of that sort of age.....(apologies for gobbledegook, that'll be because I spend my time with my teenagers grin)

BeachysFlipFlops Wed 23-Aug-17 16:45:17

Being outside and extending energy at the same time is beyond my teenage boy!

SnickersWasAHorse Wed 23-Aug-17 16:49:28

I can't quite picture what you mean...

Imagine an audience watching Trump and getting all excited. Imagine that they are agreeing with him and the audience don't just clap the whoop and shout 'yeah' and stuff like that.
Now imagine a 19 year old doing the same thing, on his own.

I think the 'expending energy' idea might be right. Or drugs.

LittleLights Wed 23-Aug-17 16:51:47

Could he be on his phone?

SerfTerf Wed 23-Aug-17 16:51:57

No nothing like that here.

Sounds unusual to say the least.

Maybe there IS some SN/LD issue?

PickAChew Wed 23-Aug-17 16:52:25

You need to go out there and enthusiastically join in grin

thecatfromjapan Wed 23-Aug-17 16:52:45

I'm intrigued he's outside.

Mine rises late, ambles around - eating everything in sight - then disappears off with friends, to return in the dead of night ...

... and repeat.

Notanothergiraffe Wed 23-Aug-17 16:53:14

I am the keeper of teenage boys although not sure I am a qualified keeper!!
Mine do not make whooping noises when alone in the garden if it helps.

SerfTerf Wed 23-Aug-17 16:54:25

Mine too @thecat.

Maybe the whooping is what happens if they accidentally get exposed to fresh air?

SnickersWasAHorse Wed 23-Aug-17 16:56:27

His sister goes out and joins in.
I think he's outside as it's quite a crowded house and he can have some space a fag outside.

BigGreenOlives Wed 23-Aug-17 16:58:01

I think he's proving to his mother that he's been outside.

LonginesPrime Wed 23-Aug-17 17:03:32

Could they be playing a game, like table football or similar on the patio?

If not, I'd assume he was on an iPad or a phone watching sports?

JustAnotherPoster00 Wed 23-Aug-17 17:07:13

Maybe it makes the noise because its being watched out of its natural enviroment OP, perhaps build a blind so its not aware that its being observed. The key is to make it look like a washing machine, they dont seem to notice them hmm grin

Curiously, a department I have to frequent at work is staffed by men aged 18-40. They woop at each other. And randomly shout profanities at each other.
Where is the line between weird teenager and weird men?

SnickersWasAHorse Wed 23-Aug-17 17:12:49

I can't see him, only hear him most of the time. He could be on his phone I guess.

Deemail Wed 23-Aug-17 17:17:04

What's NT?

AhYaBastart Wed 23-Aug-17 17:19:17

Maybe watching football on his phone outside?

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen Wed 23-Aug-17 17:22:14

I would bet an electronic device is involved some how!

chips4teaplease Wed 23-Aug-17 17:22:57

I was a teacher, so was dd. We both noticed how teenage boys make weird noises. They just do. Its like stags or peacocks. The more fucking weird noises they can make, the better they think they are.
