I have a family wedding coming up but I'm having cold feet about the dress I've bought. Is this ok or is it too white?

Nicknacky Sun 20-Aug-17 22:15:35

That's lovely, definitely not too white. Where is it from?

highinthesky Sun 20-Aug-17 22:15:57

I think it's lovely for a summer wedding. It's white but doesn't look bridal, you can always offset it with a statement hat in a matching pink.

SentientCushion Sun 20-Aug-17 22:16:43

It's from Zara originally but I got t from eBay for £10 blush

TuiMitcham Sun 20-Aug-17 22:17:04

I think it's probably ok as it's bright white and bridal dresses are often off white/ivory/cream etc and it's very clearly not a wedding dress or lacy/floaty/beaded etc.

BirdyBedtime Sun 20-Aug-17 22:17:47

Absolutely not. It's a lovely dress and a bargain too! You'll look fab.

QueenMortificado Sun 20-Aug-17 22:17:48

No it's absolutely fine

It's lovely too!! Off to eBay to see if I can find one....

Chapterandverse Sun 20-Aug-17 22:18:07

Dd wore a similar dress to a recent wedding.

She teamed it with red shoes, red bag & roses wound through her hair.

Everyone loved it. Not too white at all!

BirdyBedtime Sun 20-Aug-17 22:18:09

Sorry I meant absolutely not too white .....

SentientCushion Sun 20-Aug-17 22:18:24

Oh I should say the invite says 'dress for a summer wedding, traditional hats are encouraged'
It's in a marquee.

SentientCushion Sun 20-Aug-17 22:19:09

I think I searched Chinese style dress if you're looking to buy it x

It's lovely and not too white. Definitely get a big hat!
Saw pictures of an acquaintance recently at a wedding (not her own) in a fully white lace dress. Was a bit shock that she has the audacity

PaperdollCartoon Sun 20-Aug-17 22:20:41

Had the audacity to wear it* it was short but very wedding dressy.

SentientCushion Sun 20-Aug-17 22:22:51

Someone wore their actual wedding dress to my wedding and she made moon eyes at her husband all through the ceremony.
It was fine though she's just like that.

DonkeyOaty Sun 20-Aug-17 22:26:45

Oh. Em. Gee. at wearing her actual wedding dress to your wedding!

The dress you've chosen is lovely, not bridal at all.

SentientCushion Sun 20-Aug-17 22:30:57

To be fair her wedding dress was a red ball gown but still

Cavender Mon 21-Aug-17 00:56:56

Great dress, definitely go for a big hat!

Not sure what to say about red ball gown guest though. confused

I think it's lovely and would wear it. Perhaps get a brightly coloured fascinator and shoes, to match one of the colours in the pattern

hippadoppaloppagorillapig Mon 21-Aug-17 09:11:00

I'm paranoid about these things and I'd say it was too white. Choose another colour OP.

QueenMortificado Mon 21-Aug-17 09:26:32

hippa is that in case the OP gets mistaken for the bride?

allertse Mon 21-Aug-17 10:00:08

I think it's too white, unless you wore a coloured blazer or something over it (and didn't take it off). It's not just about being mistaken for the bride, although not all brides wear meringue dresses and at a glance that could easily be mistaken for a shorter wedding dress. But it's just attention seeking to wear something so predominantly white to a wedding IMO. It's not even like the pattern covers the whole dress - there are massive white expanses!

Eeeeek2 Mon 21-Aug-17 10:13:35

I'd go for colourful accessories/jacket to lessen the white but I'd wear it definitely

Sugarpiehoneyeye Mon 21-Aug-17 10:14:46

It's lovely !

Mum2OneTeen Mon 21-Aug-17 10:20:30
