I think I am turning into a yeti. I touched my face and there was this hair there, so I plucked it out. The fucker is 4 inches long. I have a magnifying mirror which I use to put on my makeup every day. How in the name of all that is holy have I managed to miss it while it's been growing?!

squoosh Fri 21-Apr-17 13:04:37

Bliss. It must have been coiled up like a spring waiting for its chance to pounce through your face.

RoganJosh Fri 21-Apr-17 13:07:36

Inches?! Wow. Can we have a photo?

Fairyfellowsmasterstroke Fri 21-Apr-17 13:08:42

OP - Are you related to me????

As I get older my chin and upper lip are turning into something resembling Albert Steptoe's stubble!!!

I've even developed a habit of watching TV and MNing whilst casually rubing a finger across my chin and jaw line checking for rogue whiskers.

I swear that I am clean shaven at 7pm but by the time the 10 o'clock news comes on I'm morphing into a whiskery yeti!!!!

Beelzebop Fri 21-Apr-17 13:09:30

Don't you just love em!

RandomMess Fri 21-Apr-17 13:10:56

I had an incher the other day - soft downy facial hair but yep how can it get so long without being spotted!

Maudlinmaud Fri 21-Apr-17 13:11:58

If you are having difficulty spotting them, the changing rooms in Zara are your friend.

OlennasWimple Fri 21-Apr-17 13:12:05

Photo!

And you might want to get this moved to Sporners Corner

MyCatLikesToSitInBoxes Fri 21-Apr-17 13:13:42

It isn't very easy to photograph because ta pretty fine. I'll put a tape measure next to it for scale and accuracy. grin

randomuntrainedcuntowner Fri 21-Apr-17 13:15:45

Oh my good the random whiskers! Every time I notice one I can never find the bloody tweezers! I have a scar on my chin which occasionally pops out massive think black things. It's gross!

randomuntrainedcuntowner Fri 21-Apr-17 13:16:49

Give me an I growing hair any day though. Love popping out those bad boys! 😂

viques Fri 21-Apr-17 13:18:26

Bookmarking for monster hair photo!

I used to have a very thick hair that would appear overnight on the outside of my thigh, but it seems to have given up ,as has the incredibly thin hair that grew on my shoulder and the little wire that sometimes popped out on my wrist. honestly, I used to feel that I needed to do a hair check weekly to keep my rogues in order.

MyCatLikesToSitInBoxes Fri 21-Apr-17 13:19:26

Tada!

MyCatLikesToSitInBoxes Fri 21-Apr-17 13:20:49

It is actually golden. Possibly the first blonde hair I have ever managed to grow. Of course it would be right in the middle of my bloody face and not on my head where I could actually make use of it.

leccybill Fri 21-Apr-17 13:22:12

Was it sort of sitting against your face? Mine do that, hide in my jawline. Sneaky fuckers.

B1rdonawire Fri 21-Apr-17 13:22:31

Respect. That's a whopper. And yes, I assume they grow as coiled springs waiting for a random moment, as they seem to go from 0-gigantic in a micro-second on my face too.

Maudlinmaud Fri 21-Apr-17 13:22:41

How did you not notice that?

mygrandchildrenrock Fri 21-Apr-17 13:22:48

They don't grow size wise like head hair. They grown in your skin and then burst through and suddenly there is that inch long (or 4 inches for the OP) black, white or silver hair.
It can happen in the middle of an important meeting, you'd looked in the mirror in the loo before you went in, no rogue hair, then you're absentmindedly stroking your chin or cheek and there it is. The blighter sneaked out and is hanging off your face and there is nothing you can do until the meeting is finished. Most annoying!

MyCatLikesToSitInBoxes Fri 21-Apr-17 13:23:02

Yes - it was just lying quite flat down my cheek. confused

EatsShitAndLeaves Fri 21-Apr-17 13:32:32

They are stealth hairs.

I have one on my upper lip. I check for it every morning - yet every few months I'll look again in the evening and it will be there - dark and a centimetre long.

It usually times itself beautifully to emerge on a rare night out or an important day at work.

It taunting me - I know it grin

happypoobum Fri 21-Apr-17 13:35:36

Exactly what mygrandchildrenrock said - they grow underneath the skin and suddenly uncoil and you get either a tiny bit which you pluck and there's inches underneath, or the whole fucking thing emerges and sticks out of your chin like a big pubey flag angry

PyongyangKipperbang Fri 21-Apr-17 13:36:28

Sandi Toksvig often mentions the beard she would have if she wasnt in possession of tweezers! Isnt it just joyous being a woman?! Maybe we should adopt a male approach to such things and take pride in our hair?

If the OP was male she would be bragging, perhaps thats what we should do!

hoddtastic Fri 21-Apr-17 13:38:05

is there an actual name for this? I have a single one that literally comes from nowhere and then is just a huge hair (single) at the side of my mouth, almost like a tache (i have no other tache hair, downy or otherwise)

I also have one that 'pops' out of my chin from a mole (underneath) if i am not careful that bad guy can be hanging down unseen (until i hoik it out and it comes with A MASSIVE MINI EGG SIZED ROOT ON IT THE FUCKER)

terrylene Fri 21-Apr-17 13:41:08

I had a long, downy hair growing out of my back that was 5 3/4 inches once. grin It grew back a few years later, and I pulled it out again instantly regretting it. I vowed that next time it grew, I would nurture it and measure it and see how long it got, but it never has sad

I think at the time of the long back hair, I had a few not so long facial hairs, but not now. Just yard broom bristles/cactus spines of the chin. angry

Biddylee Fri 21-Apr-17 13:42:43

I use eye drops called lumigan which stimulate eyelash growth (they aren't for that for me). So one day I noticed a giant 2cm fine hair had grown right underneath my eye - it has never reappeared so I think it was eyedrop magic!
