I do order my turkey, just so I know that it is all sorted and it just needs to be picked up.
Last year I ordered a turkey crown from the butcher;s which was stuffed with a prok meat stuffing. The receipt had the cooking times and it was really easy.

You could get a decent fresh turkey crown from M&S on 23rd Dec, there are instructions on the packaging, and also how many portions you can get from each size of crown.

My butcher starts taking Christmas meat orders from the first week in Nov. We usually have a big free-range chicken, a 5lb one will feed 8 - 10 people with sausages and bacon. (DH doesn't like turkey, I'm happy to have chicken, always did as a child)

DO NOT BUY a frozen turkey!

Mil did once and it was horrid, very, very dry. She is a perfectly good cook so I don't think it was her - it was definately the bird!
