What tags do you use if any to accompany brown paper and parcel string wrapping?

Last year I decided wrapping paper was far too expensive and I would come up for an alternative this year. Well I've come up with my alternative but not sure what to do about the tags. I always recycle any christmas cards we get so can't cut up those for tags.

Does anyone just write on the paper?

i make my own gift tags! you can buy white card tags from any craft shop, get some xmas stickers for the front, and ribbon to thread them on, and write your message on the reverse in silver or gold pens.

I would say use a matt black tag and write on in white (like chalk on a blackboard). You could also draw a little snowman/angel on there.

Or paper luggage labels.

I think the paper luggage labels look good too. Can decorate them if you wish.

i love the idea of this but i am not sure if it would be cheaper than normal paper and tags. i buy a lot of patterned paper on 2 for 1 offers and good quality brown paper can be dear.

brown paper and tags does sound more individual and intersting though

i would agree with the luggage labels in either White or Natural they look lovely and they and the Brown paper can be stamped which looks effective as well

I love doing different wrapping.

You have a few options.

  1. Rather than string, use Raffia in different colours and just write on the brown paper.
  2. Buy very simple cards in whatever colour and attach those
  3. Rather than attaching cards or slips of paper, find something else. A pretty bead perhaps or a bit of dried flower with either a small plain tag, or again, written on the parcel.

I'm doing mine this year with Raffia, brown paper and I'm thinking of investing in small slate tags (but that will be expensive)

Looks nice with an ivy leaf for a tag
with the writing in one of those gold pens.
(that's what I did last year)

Nice looking gift labels here

BooBoo I find it still works out cheaper than the cheapest wrapping paper. In Tesco last year they did 15 metre rolls of parcel paper for £1. I think the IKEA one is 70p for 10 metres?

The cheapest paper I have ever managed to find works out at 8p a metre.

wow, nappy addict, that is good value paper. i think i have made the mistake of buying sheets of the stuff rather than rolls. didn't even think of ikea for it either.

i stand corrected!
