Christmas

How many people give your dcs presents (in addition to mum dad and santa!)

Intrigued by the thread on thank you letters, where some people seem to be writing 15 or more thank you letters, I am wondering what is the average number of presents your dcs receive at Christmas? And I wonder whether that influences how much you buy them?
I buy my dcs quite a lot (I think), but they never seem to be inundated (we got through our presents under the tree in less than an hour I think!)

So I counted it up and they have 8 relatives who normally get them Xmas presents (two grandpas, two uncles, one set of great grandparents, three great aunts). In addition, one of my friends usually gets something small like chocolate for them.

Is that average, a lot, or not many?

immediate family (my siblings and dh's siblings)
grandparents both sides
1 set of friends
childminder

dd1 (7) made a few things for some of her buddies and wrapped them up.

have cut out all others completely, just unnecessary we felt (mutual between me and the other mums) - was getting a bit silly.

have not even thought about thankyous yet, other than it's on my radar to do. Am quite weirded out that others think it's terrible that they haven't been sent yet.

This year DS's got a present (welll gift voucher) from my parents, then DS2's godmother got them one each, and both of DS3's godparents bought them presents too.

It goes on.

Me
His Dad
2 sets GPs
2 sets relatives (my brother & Partner, DS dad's brother and family)
2 sets of cousins
Great aunt
3rd set of cousins who send some cash
A family who are like relatives as my parents have known them since before we were born
DS best friend at playgroup
One or two of my mates.

I think a lot depends on family sizes - some people's parents were one of 7 siblings or something, some people's parents are only children of only children so fewer relatives.

My DS had 22 thank you letters to write (we are still doing them now and he has had a birthday since xmas too so even more to write). My and DP's family are really funny about thank yous - a phone call or thank you in person is not good enough
As we know he gets a lot from family and friends we don't tend to get too much. Stocking is mostly made of little bits and pieces and he has one main present under the tree from us.

Ds has 6 aunts and uncles, various family friends, and 3 sets of grandparents who buy for him.

I'm one of 6 children, and my mum used to despair at Christmas! We have 10 aunts and uncles, and had 7 or 8 old ladies who used to buy us presents as well - so much stuff to find a home for!
