Oh my god - you lot that buy stuff now for next xmas where do you put it all? 'Do you all live in mansions or something? I don't have enough room in my house for everyday stuff, nevermind storing things for a year

Yes, when I get to the shops. Have always started getting birthday and Christmas presents for the next year, in the January sales!

But how do you know what people are going ot want that far in advance?

And what happens if trends change during the year?
I always worry that if I get something toooo far in advance then that person will have gone off whatever brand/item/character by the time it's their b'day!!

And what if they buy themselves whatever it is you've bought over the course of the next 12 months.

i don't buy for children or themed things just general things for the adults. i don't buy things that they would by themselves and then not need another one (ie like the coffee machine i got my mum this year.) i buy quite boring things like boxers for my dad, anything pink for my sister, kitchen things for my nan, garderning sets for my grandad or anything to do with hunting, farming, geese or chickens and then things like smellies, photo frames, candles etc.

No. I don't buy for next Christmas in the sales. I have been to town to exchange a couple of things, But made a mistake with that. I exchanged something in HNV forgetting that DD1 had told me that my present from her fiance hadn't arived yet and I would be getting it next week. Yes you've guessed the thing I got in exchange is what he has bought me so now I'll have to take it back again. I'm never goibng to go to town on Boxing Day again!

You don't need to know in advance what people will want though, you just use your common sence and only buy things you know they will like or what ever. Or stuff that you know you can give to somebody else if that person does buy it etc. I do buuy for the children mainly, but I have loads of children to buy for so if it got to Xmas 09 and I didn't really want to give it to that one child anymore, I would give it to somebody else.
