Party food, its my son's birthday. Usually do a buffet thing for his birthday with family over. Includes cold meat and humungus cheese board left over from Christmas day.

As little as possible

Cold turkey, cold gammon, cold stuffing, cold sausages wrapped in bacon (so basically leftovers) with mashed potato, lots of different salads and mass amounts of pickles, chutneys and dressings!

I actually prefer it to Xmas dinner... a few years ago we cooked our turkey on Christmas Eve, skipped the roast and had it as above on Christmas Day!

Last year I did Hugh F-W's stuffed BN squash, which was fabulous: looked celebratory but nice and light and non-meaty after the big day. Am racking my brains to think of something similar for this year.

We always buy the good pork pies that our butcher sells, so that we have cold turkey, pork pie and nice cheeses (not left over, whjo has room for cheese on Christmas day), along with salady stuff, and maybe bubble'n'squeak made from left-over sprouts and mashed tatties.

Ham in coke with salad and maybe bubble and squeak (followed by ham & cheese croquettes the next day!)

Left over cold roast, sausage rolls, mince pies etc

I try not to cook for another day or 2 tbh as there is usually sufficient left overs (although this year there will be 5 adults)

Usually either jacket pots/potato dauphinoise, cold turkey and ham + winter salad. Anything else leftover usually re-hashed somehow. Yum, can't wait!

Cold meat, potatoes, salad or veg, mince pies to follow. It's often more relaxed than Christmas day dinner.

One year we had to eat up a daffy of chilled vegetarian food as my Mum bought a shelf-load being unsure of a cousin's food preference (the year before she arrived with a frozen dinner for a 2pm sit-down) and she wanted it out of her fridge pronto .

Usually do large buffet for my and DH's families. Costs a fortune and requires some effort to set up and organise/clear away.

Have cancelled this year. Too much money that we don'r have atm. Also lovely BIL is unwell atm so not sure what he'll be fit for later in the year.

So i have no idea what to have. Going out for Xmas dinner to our local Indian (yum yum)may do Xmas dinner on Boxing day for just us 6.
Anyone any other suggestions?

That would be cook-chill foods that you reheat, not chilled to eat iyswim.

At MIL's for Christmas day, and having my family boxing day, so no left overs. Going to do a lamb tangine or beef in beer or red wine, with mashed spuds, braised red cabbage and roasted squash. And crowd pleaser dessert.
