Many of us have everything we need in terms of toys and domestic stuff but are very short of cash this year. I would like to tell you what my sister and I did last xmas regarding gifts for the kids:

Nearer the time we emailed a short list of some things we had already got for our kids for xmas and asked the other one to say which one they would like to be 'from' them/their kids. Then we put their names on the label and told our kids the present was from them.
This way we saved on postage and last minute xmas stress, our kids did not get too many presents and everyone got something their parents knew they needed/would like because they'd already bought it themselves.

What do you think?

Excellent idea - I hope your name is ironic!

It is ironic in as much as i am not too shite a mum but some people take it seriously! It's also supposed to be a anti-mummy2diddums type name...

i htink its great idea shitemum

just wish our family was as sorted really, in practical terms, we are the church mice to all the great n uberly successful aunts n uncles so our solution is a book for their kids and really nought much else this year, tis especially tough one financially (redundancy) so we think they should know not to expect much...

(luckylady74 there was a great thread about shitemum's name, tis post modern ironic was the consensus iirc..)
