I just don't know what to buy dd (6) for christmas - what are you getting your 6 year old dd?

This year, as every year, it feels as though she has just had a birthday and I am all out of ideas. DD is not easy to buy for as she doesn?t really play with toys much and she?s not a pink and fluffy girl.

I not only have to think of soething for us to buy her, but also also have to come up with suggestions for relatives! So am looking for inspiration. Share your DD?s Christmas lists with me please!

Can you ask her to do a letter to Santa & use that as a shopping list?

My non-girly dd is into k'nex!

Bella ? she won?t do a list - she just wants ?surprises?

She?s never really liked dolls ? she had one last year and it?s barely been played with at all.

Lego ? tricky one, as it?s either film tie ins (which she has little interest in), super-girly (the Belleville stuff) knights and robots (no) or transport (definitely no). Lego really needs to pull its finger out and do some more appealing things for girls like my dd.

She has an older brother so we have lots of construction stuff knocking around at home

I am thinking of getting DD (5.6) a desk and chair, then all nice bits to go on the desk, pens, notepads etc. There isn't much that she needs this year, she does talk about a DS but I think she is still too young and wouldn't use it much so thats not an option for us either.

DD is 7, last year we got her a set of watercolours as she likes to paint and probably some things for her bedroom.

This year I think it will be binoculours, science kit and more painting things.

My dd loved Hama beads at this age - they do a good range from really girly kits to horses kits.

Also good are a CD player with some story CDs + a couple of the awful party disco CDs or HSM CDs

If she is into books - there are lots of book sets now that she might like?

We are out of ideas for my dd (8 this time) for birthday and christmas - so we are decorating her room and buying bits to go into it - bean bags, lamp etc

Good Luck!

Desk and chair sound possible if we could find somewhere for it to go ? she loves doing ?admin stuff? in her room?..

Hama beads ? please no, we have a huge box of them on a top shelf in her cupboard ? am hoping she?s forgotten about them!

CD player was one of her birthday presents ? a huge hit (and v cheap). Would recommend as a good 6 year old girl present!

Playmobil? They do a good range to suit all tastes! My dd (5.5) loves art and craft stuff, making models etc. She got a hand held leapster thingy for her birthday which was a great hit, not sure if 6 is a bit old though.

my dd2 was 6 last week

successes: playmobil, magnetix, wiki sticks (wax 'strings' that cling to a board and you make pix with - recommended by a mumsnetter and fab!), a lovely french doll

she is adamant that she wants this for xmas

I was thinking of a vtech laptop thing for her to mess about on but the lion seems to be an obsession atm

We have never really got into Playmobil here (although ds had the boat about 5 years ago which they played with inthe bath until last year when I threw it out - stinky and mouldy). What are the good ones?

Enid - one of our nice local retaurants gives away wiki sticks as part of a children's pack to entertain their smaller guests - they are fab I agree.

my dds do like the pirate ship and fort, with attendant horses and royal family and knights and witches, also the campervan. And there's a new range of fantasy playmobil they currently like with fairies and unicorns.

They like animal hospital stuff too. which is similar but good for children who like animals more than people.
