DS is almost 3 and adoooores Lego (as do I). Are Lego Advent calendars good? Or are they too frustrating for a 3 year old?

My DS loved his last year when he was just over 4. His sister who is a few years older didn't get on with hers at all. I think nearly 3 would be a bit young for one but what about a Playmobil one, they have some with animals in that would be good for that age group I think.

Chocolateteapot, he's relatively unmoved by Playmobil but completely and utterly fanatical about Lego. Why didn't your DD get on with her Lego calendar do you think?

Last year I waited until the first week of Dec & picked one up in Woolies for half price!

My LO (5 last year) loved his, already got his this year and hes excited. I thought it was well worth the money for all the little lego people/models he got.

Amazon do them on line and it free postage now if you spend over £5 as well

Yes, we bought one a few years back for ds and he loved it - and far better for him than chocolate.

We had one for the first time last year. Was a hit with dd(5) and ds(2.5) liked it too. I was disappointed it wasn't a bit more... erm, well.. Christmassy. A crate on fire, a lifebuoy, a road sign ... hmm didn't really do it for me!

Some good little bits in there though. And there was a Christmas tree at the end!

She has problems with fine motor skills so found it a bit tricky. DS had the city one last year and is having the castle one this year. I made the mistake of telling him about it and he is extremely excited about it.

I've ordered 2 for my ds's. Ds1 is 10 but still loves the little figures. He orders them sometimes from the pick and mix on the lego site. His mates always seem quite interested in them as well! I'm secretly longing for them to grow out of lego so that I can flog the lot on ebay - kerching!

Thank you all. I think I'm going to go for it. Now, City, or Castle..........

Where does the 'advent' bit come in (they don't look very christmassy). Are the pieces packaged in 24 parts or something?

(We like lego!)

Oooh... I'd DS would love one of those.
