We have the castle, the ark and viking ship (not as good) and lot and lots and lots and lots grin of little bits. It is loads of fun though and he still has it in his room and is now 8.

this is my ideas list for DS (rising 5) so far:

stick insects
Magic set
metal detector
Game - Operation , Cluedo
star projector or moon phase wall light thing

last year he got and loved a CD player

ChasingSquirrels Sat 18-Oct-08 19:51:03

ds1 (just 6) had a telescope and a microscope over the last year, he did like both but didn't use them for long and they have gone away for when he is a bit older (both were only a couple of quid from a car boot so it doesn't matter).
He loves lego and that would be his choice for any present, and what he buys with his own money.
Have never had any playmobil so can't comment on that.
Games are a hit, uno, top trumps etc. But more of a stocking filler.
I got him an electronics kit similar to this from the cheap book shop for £5 last year, big hit and have since brough quite a few for birthday presents.
Over the course of the last year it has mainly been lego and games though.

Dusty, our stick insects have bred like crazy - if you live by me I could give you some..lots

(we are in hants)

Would you like ds2s list (he's 5):

Vanpirz costume
Strwowrs litsavr
Strworws deeveedee
Power ranger operation overdrive phone (he asked for help with that one)
Rasan crs
Ras chrac
Doctr who lasr scroo jrivr
Ben 10 wosh
Sibrmen helmit
Raven costume

Decipher that and you may have some clues to the mind of a 5yo grin

PS no idea where knowledge of vanpirz has come from

We got ds (who was 5) the tower of doom from elc and asked family to buy the figures and monsters to go with it. He has played with it non stop.

Also at 5 years ds was (and still is) mad into Ben 10 and there is loads of stuff out there.

purpleduck, thanks for the offer but we aren't very close! also need a vivarium (or whatever you put them in) anyway.

hannahsaunt I love your DS's list. Bit puzzled about Rasan crs - who or what is Rasan?

hannahsaunt Sat 18-Oct-08 20:22:21

Racing cars and racing track

iheartdusty Sat 18-Oct-08 20:29:11
