What's best breyer or schleich horse models?

for a 8 and 6 yr old and reasons why? And where's best ie cheapest to order them from?Or any other ideas for horse mad girls?

All I know is that the Schleich ones are excellent (not heard of the others)

They're both very good. My girls have Scleich models (haven't quite got round to the larger Breyer models yet). The Breyer range is wider and vary in sizes from a few cms to quite large models. Both do stables,riders etc and I'd say the Scleich are more durable,we have a couple of the mini Breyers with broken legs. The other alternative is Julip and their models are robust.

another vote for Scleich.. They are beautiful, i think ELC has started selling them..

For an 8 and 6 year old Scleich or Papo.

The big Breyer models are beautiful but not so robust, better for older children.

Schleich are wonderful My DD (8) plays for hours with them (and has done for years) and they are very robust. They are also quite resonably priced so she can add to her collection with her pocket money.

Papo are equally good but our local toyshop doesn't sell a particulary large range of them.

We have a few larger Beyer horses but they don't get played with much. I think they are very expensive.

I adore Schleich - my DD has loads of horses and horse equipment, as well as plenty of other animals.

DD (8) has Breyer and Schleich. Schleich probably better for little hands, but if your girls are really into horses, the Breyer models are v. realistic (especially the 'traditionals') and you can get authentic tack too.

Lots of votes for schleich then. Interesting to hear that the breyer ones are more delicate, we already have lots of "disabled" toysrus chestnut ridge horses .Thanks for that link Merrylegs are they very good for ordering from, have you ordered from them?
Off to check out utterlyhorses and elc website now. - be fab if elc has some as I'd rather see some in the flesh as it were than order blindly off the net!

Ok so had a quick look - the schleich ones in elc say for age 3 - 8? Is that realistic? Is there a particular size which is best in some way for my girls ages, 6 and 8? I know they have different sizes such as pony parade, stablemates etc...? Hmmm... dd is really obsessed with horses would love all the little realistic accessories - do you get them with both breyer and schleich? I know she was looking through a catalogue at them she got last night (taken to school with her) it had toy manure she took great delight in telling me if I ever get to look at this catalogue to find out which one it was...

I have ordered from Utterly horses - quick delivery, v. straightforward. I have even been to their shop in Finchingfield (Essex) where they have a special sale room at the back. (Have to say my DD is pretty obsessed!) And yes, we have the horse manure (think they call it 'stable apples' rather delicately!) Breyer stablemates are really small (smaller than Schleich). The tack for both Breyer and Schleich can be fiddly to put on. The Traditionals are the biggest Breyer models and the most authentic.. DD has 'Milton' and I have to say he looks absolutely fab with a stable rug and bridle on. (The Uttelry horses catalogue is required bedtime reading in our house too!)

Well I would say schleich because the look more lifelike and will last longer, and schleich are cheaper
