Fill Your Own Crackers... with what?!

In a pique of plastic tat hatred I've gone and bought fill your own crackers for the adults.

Now realising maybe over ambitious? Is it only chocolates and booze minis or has anyone else had good ideas?

Some of the women would definitely like a nail/lip thing (Might buy some Charlotte Tilbury Mini Lipsticks), but I'm not sure on the men/non-make up fans...

I've managed to fit fancy hot chocolate sticks in ours. I just had to cut the stick down slightly but you wouldn't know!

This year I bought a miniatures scent set that has unisex perfumes and split it up among crackers. Along with scratch cards and seed packets of things I know the recipients would like.

In the past I've put things like plectrums, mascara, mini wildlife whistles, lottery tickets, sprout roulette, beauty products and probably more I've forgotten.

It depends on your audience really.

Lip balm like Burt's bees or something? We're all suffering from the cold!

A key chain with a coin on it for shopping trolleys.

Portable and collapsible straw.

Paper vouchers (not credit card style ones)
A rolled up pair of socks will just fit in
Chocolates/ sweets
Keyrings
Jewellery/ cuff links
Sparklers or indoor fireworks
A cigar will just about fit.

Radiator key?
I guess it's useful but how disappointing would that be?!
I've put some magic towels in the kids' ones. They are tiny but expand when you add water. Also:
Hot chocolate sachet
Rubbers
Hair grips
Seeds

I'm planning on making small packs of fudge for ours. Thought it could be nice post dinner with coffee.

I bought some this year but hardly anything fits inside them. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I've managed to get keyrings for my mum and husband, a small lipbalm for me, and we will each have a scratch card and a liqueur chocolate.

If you search 'Christmas cracker gifts' on Etsy there's a few good ideas come up.

We have wind up Santa’s to race in ours. They’re on their 3rd year now. I just collect them after Christmas and put them away with the decks.

Also a Christmas scratch card and a novelty chocolate - it was chocolate sprouts last year, but they were like bullets when pulled enthusiastically Grin

This year I’ve bought some Neom mini pillow sprays.
I’ve previously done
Personalised bottle openers
Seeds
Mini hand cream
Earrings
Nail varnish
Glasses repair kit
Alcohol miniatures
Lip balm
Lipstick or lipgloss
I bought some glasses cleaning cloths that I’d had photos put on, these weren’t for crackers but they’d fit in perfectly
Personalised key ring
Usually put a Christmas scratch card in too

Where did you find the cracker kits? I haven't seen any fill your own ones this year.

My family have always done this as we hate the shit that comes in shop bought ones. We fill them with makeup bits, scratch cards, I found an Etsy shop last year that did matchstick puzzles in a matchstick box that was small enough to fit in the crackers.

I have bought larger sized cracker kits from Little Crafty Bugs which have given me more room to play with on the fillings. I’m adding name tags to them so I can personalise to the recipient and have tried to go for useful or consumable rather than tat.

  • alcohol miniatures
  • small Lego set
  • This Works pillow spray
  • Lip balm
  • Photo fridge magnets
  • wine stopper

Radiator key?

A once in a lifetime purchase- not really something for a cracker?

@TheMissingMango Hobbycraft have them.

I put a Lindt chocolate teddy and a scratchcard in each of ours last year, they went down really well and the DCs have asked if I could do the same this year
