Can I change the name of who it's from when I transfer it?

If he's old enough to be asking for that kind of money, surely he knows!
I'm a bit shocked a 10 year old is asking for cash, tbh.
Or FC doesn't do money, imagine all the people in the world asking for cash, he's not a bank...something along those lines?

I'm surprised you got to 10 without having The Talk tbh!

SparklingLime Sat 04-Dec-21 12:23:06

FC definitely doesn’t do cash gifts.

BeaMends Sat 04-Dec-21 12:23:20

Father Christmas doesn't do cash, he only does presents.

PestoPlum Sat 04-Dec-21 12:24:43

Can't he just receive the money from FC then you transfer it in?

mamaoffourdc Sat 04-Dec-21 12:41:28

Father Christmas just does stockings and definitely not cash gifts

Father Christmas delivers gifts by sleigh. There are no banks in the North Pole, so he’s asked you to do it for him.

Are you sure he still believes? Or is he thinking that he won’t get presents if you think he doesn’t?

I'd put the money into a nice card "from Father Christmas", and then DS can put it in his account.

SparklingLime Sat 04-Dec-21 12:52:23

The thought of Father Christmas doing bank transfers has drained all remaining Christmas spirit from me.

Hoppinggreen Sat 04-Dec-21 12:56:34

We use Go Henry and relatives send the DC money for Birthdays and xmas but even though they are now 16 and 12 Santa wouldn’t do it.
In fact all major presents have always been from the person buying them, Santa only puts small things in their stocking

StrychnineInTheSandwiches Sat 04-Dec-21 13:00:18

I wouldn't have a problem with a 10 year old requesting cash rather than the gift equivalent. Good age to start learning how to manage their money. I might have a few caveats though about how it could be spent i.e not in one go in the sweet shop.

Does he still believe in Santa though, or is he maybe just humouring you?

Jumpingintochristmas Sat 04-Dec-21 13:03:15

I fully agree Father Christmas can’t do bank transfers, it’s not in the spirit of things.

Couldn’t Father Christmas bring a wrapped gift/fill stocking and you give DS money on his card?

Time for the talk I reckon

This! He's gaming the system.

Just write on the transfer From Santa. My DM still does nonsense like this now and I'm in my 40s.

Get these from Santa and the actual money comes from you.

I would give the cash inside a puzzle box, it's what I've done in the past for my teenage children.

FC definately does not do money 🙄

RodneyIsDave Sat 04-Dec-21 13:40:43

I’d be telling him FC put £20 in and he can save the rest as he goes along

SSOYS Sat 04-Dec-21 13:43:20

I think you could do this by creating a gift link, sending it to yourself then writing the gift message as if from Santa. You can add Christmassy graphics too.

Not sure whether he’ll be able to see that it is really from you but presumably it’s just a bit of fun so you’re not giving anything away.

bubblebath62636 Sat 04-Dec-21 13:52:52

Sounds a bit cheeky! My teenager wouldn't dare ask for a specific amount of money!

But yeah FC surely doesn't do cash.

BTW I'm sure your son is lovely- not a dig!
