Your Perfect Stocking

I’ve decided this year I’m going to make myself a stocking. I have purchased a red velvet, fluffy topped, monogrammed delight and I’m ready to fill it! Hit me with your ideas/wishes. What would be in your dream stocking?

I've never had a stocking so I asked for one last year. Slight crossed wires meant my DH bought a stocking but didn't fill it means this year will be my first.

I ideally would like some chocolate, maybe a book, fruit (tradition) and some sweet, personal little gifts in it (as an example, I'm planning whiskey stones and some funny socks amongst other things for DH).

Quality, rather than quantity! Nice chocolate, mini bottle of fizz, scented candle, small beauty products like lipstick or mascara, paperback book, a voucher for somewhere like Costa or Greggs or whatever floats your boat, ear-rings, nice pen or notebook, phone cover, fun things to eat or accompany food like chutney or jam, lottery ticket - the list goes on!

I buy odd little bits for myself when I’m doing the Christmas shopping (which stretches across months) and pop them in a box for dh to wrap later. It’s not a stocking, as such, but there’s always a few little things that I’ve forgotten I bought but are perfect.

My ideal stocking would be full of small luxuries - new gloves, hand cream, nice chocolates, the pens I like, a small piece of jewellery, perfume, bubble bath, scented candle, space masks, a lovely notebook.

Bits and pieces that are an upgrade on the usual, little treats. I do one each for DH and our late teen DC , and DH does mine. Last year's included

Lemon curd, Gu spread
Good chocolate bars
A book
Scented diffuser or candle
Sweets
Bamboo socks
Mascara / shaving products
Stationery items
Magazine
Favourite alcohol - chocolate baileys, ginger wine, cider

And other silly family tradition items:
Blutack
Toothbrush
Lynx set
Lego minifig blind bag

Lottery scratch cards go in our crackers.

DH does mine too but I'm going to add a few ideas to his list.

I'd like a new sleep mask, some silver earrings and the usual things...toiletries, chocolate orange and socks!

Fluffy socks, chocolates, perfume, make up, skin care, jewelry, candles, wax melts, slippers, hair care.

I like:

food bits - fruit curds, chocolate, sweets, candied orange slices, sugar cubes (what can I say, I love sugar cubes), posh hot chocolate

toiletries - nice shower gel, bath salts or oil, soap, travel size of my perfume, shower bombs, flannels, lip balm (I love lip balm), mascara, hair bands

socks but not fluffy ones, just normal ones, pants

stuff - we don't do novelty tat because I don't like the waste, but seeds, books, charging cables, matches in cool looking boxes, enamel pin badges, boot laces, kitchenware such as an egg cup, or a spork, scratch cards, pen

This year I put some photo booth style strips of photos that had been printed onto magnetic backing in OH's stocking and they went down really well

Oops posted too soon.
Usually have some nice chocolate
New mascara, lip stick, face cream can of Irn Bru, face masks etc. Also a mini bottle of wine and a cosmopolitan magazine or whatever one grabs my attention. We all open our stockings together and generally have about 30 before we belt downstairs for the main deal.

Mini bottle of gin/bubbles
Nail varnish (Nails Inc/OPI etc)
Lip balm (small batch producer)
Champagne truffles
Silk hair bobbles

I’d love lots of (for me) luxuries. This has never happened in real life, I hasten to add. I bought myself a few nice bits last year (first without late dh) but will try harder this time:

Quirky jewellery (silver and semi-precious gems)
By Terry rose lip balm
A nice cleansing balm
L’Occitane almond shower oil
Chanel apricot nail balm
Lush bath bubble bars and Dream Cream
Some nice gardening items - seeds, mini secateurs, vouchers
Pure wool walking socks
One Hundred Stars scarf, kimono or dressing gown
Champagne truffles
Mini gins and champagne
Stinky cheese of some sort
Cookery book
Decent gel pens in slightly unusual colours - brown, grey, green
Leather bound blank notebook

That’s decided, all being bought this year 😀

This is really good. I’m a LP and never get anything really for Christmas these days. My DM gets me something from DS, but it’s always slightly... ummm “thought that countsish” - so I’m planning to make a stocking for myself this year.

I’m thinking:

  • this works dry shampoo
  • lipstick
  • Palo Alto incense
  • a book
  • chocolate
  • the Le Labo Discovery set (can’t afford full size any more!)
  • Nuxe oil
  • Ren cleanser

All toiletries are stuff I used to use every day - but haven’t been able to justify buying at all often over the last few years, and have just got a new job, so hoping I’ll be able to afford it by Christmas!

DS stocking is usually:
  • haribo
  • crayons, mini play dough or other mini craft
  • small soft toy
  • small toy like yo-yo or plastic dinosaurs
  • stickers
  • chocolate
  • bath bombs (he’s a funny sort of 4 year old)

Depends on budget...

But in a reasonably priced stocking but I would love to receive:

A vintage brooch or cocktail ring.
A lipstick. Dior, or By Terry.
A mirror compact.
A bag hook.
Cashmere gloves.
A necklace &/or pendant.
A becksöndergaard wool/silk scarf, pre-loved, to replace all the ones I sold/passed on this year.
An Aspinal of London accordion card holder in gold saffiano leather (discontinued so I will need to source it on eBay) to match my key ring and lipstick case.
Chocolates - a little box of good ones.
A little bag of Turkish delight.
A little bag of fudge.
Mini bottle of champagne.
A selection of traditionally patterned socks.
A nail varnish.

One not very reasonably priced item (for me): A Mulberry purse. But that will definitely have to wait til the Boxing Day/January sales.

Wow some seriously pricy stockings! Most of these lists would be my main pressies not just for my stocking. And it’s July!

It’s in the Christmas topic! Xmas Smile Xmas Smile

I wouldn’t be getting everything on my list, that’s for sure. But I could have a few of the items if I looked for sales/money off/preloved/bargains.

We always have a Terrys Chocolate Orange in our stockings.

I’d like:

A book, something Christmassy by Carole Matthews or Holly Martin
Some bubble bath
A mini candle by DW Home (Homesense)
A diary and nice pen (Paperchase or Homesense will do)
Some new pyjamas (next)

That would do me very nicely!

O I like this idea, I think I’m going to do this too. I think I’d like:

A nice lipstick
Small bottle of bubbles
Mini perfume collection
A nice candle
Moisturising socks
Thermal socks
Face mask
Something my DDs have picked, they have already told me they will get me a Grogu (aka baby yoga) so that will be perfect.
