Good Kitchen Gadget for 8 year old!

I have a cooking mad 8 year old. We don't have many 'gadgets' for cooking and I think she would like one... Any advice?! I'd say maybe a smoothie maker but she eats lots of fruit as it is (ie with all the fibre, not mushed up...).

TIA

How do you feel about a really decent paring knife? Then she can start developing her knife skills.

How about a waffle maker?

Kenwood mini chopper is a great little gadget.

Pasta maker - lots of fun. Pasta cutters for ravioli etc.

A good knife and sharpener is a great idea. Good quality sharp knives are much less dangerous than sliding around with a crap one.

Would she like growing her own herbs etc? Google 'click & grow smart garden'. My mum gave me one for Xmas last year and I love it (I am 100 years old Grin )

You can also grow lettuce and chilli's in it. I don't recommend the strawberries or tomatoes but maybe I just did a bad job with those

How about a soup maker?

Thank you! Will look into all of those ideas, a knife does scare me but also take on board the idea that a proper knife is, bizarrely, safer...

I think Jamie Oliver has done some stuff on knife skills with his son Buddy. Google might help. Theyll also be a load of YouTube videos. Might be a nice thing for you to do together 🙂

Dd1 loves her panini toaster 🤣, we bought a waffle maker a few years ago but hardly used it. Aldi has a churro maker.

I’d love to know what you decide to buy. I was thinking along the same lines for my 10 year old daughter

I'm thinking a good piping bag for icing and choux pastry etc. My 8yo likes pans and cookie cutters, and maybe a good soft silicone scraper?

If you don't have a good processor, maybe a Magimix as a present for all the family?

I have put a silicon doughnut mould in my 8YO DD stocking and a macaron Silpat for the 10YO DD (because I actually want both!). Eldest is severely peanut allergic but can eat almonds so we can never buy those types of foods but we could get good at making our own... heatproof spatula sets are another good one...
