We moved into a new build house this summer and are going to get all new Christmas decorations 😃. Our old house was more traditional and we had a red and white scandi theme but our new house is very white and grey and a more modern, bright theme would suit it. Would anyone be happy to share a picture of their tree from last year please?

It’s probably not what you’re looking for as our colours as more traditional than Scandi and we also don’t have much of a theme! Just things we have collected over the years and things I have made, but here’s a snap of last years tree complete with a snoozy spaniel!

Aww @TommyShelby he/ she looks so cozy! Your picture could be on a Christmas card 🥰

We do have a more eclectic tree that goes in DS’s room, it really feels like Christmas when we get those decorations out for the nostalgia!

I haven’t got a photo but I have autumn themed decorations, acorns, pine cones, toadstools and birds, oranges, golds and reds. We have a owl at the top of the tree. Not really traditional but I love it.

@LadyCatStark she is the epitome of whirlwind so I’m not 100% sure how I managed to tire her out long enough to be able to get a photo of her Halloween Grin

Definitely think some sort of ‘memory tree’ is a lovely idea. Can’t beat the nostalgia held in well loved Christmas decs!

I always used to have themes in similar colours to how my front room was decorated at the time but the last couple of years I've gone for more traditional colours but with quirky extras!

@littlebillie oh yes, we will, we have the most incredible garden centre about 10 mins away from our new house. Each aisle has a different theme and there’s lights and music and the cafe serves an amazing lamb hotpot. In normal times we go in early December with my sister and the children. Actually, it might be shut until then mightn’t it if we get this new lockdown 😢

Everything is an absolute fortune though so we tend to only let the children buy something each. It’ll be great for ideas though!

My theme is multicoloured. Zero co-ordination, it’s awesome in its hideousness!

Our theme is birds. Robins, owls and white birds with fancy feathers. White baubles like snowballs and either silver tinsel or silver twisted ribbon. Love lametta too, reminds me of childhood Christmases.

Mine is pink, white and a greyish/green colour (sounds hideous but actually looks quite nice)

We have all our 'specials' plus loads of cheap baubles in different colours. Each year we decide on a colour scheme to fill out the gaps between the specials. Recent years have included
Red green and purple
Red and gold
Red pink and purple
Blues and greens
Gold green and pink
All the colours in an ombré rainbow top to bottom

I can't share a picture as I be planned the new theme for the first time this year Halo

But I have also been so excited about changing themes this year and was also starting from the tradish (ish) scandi red, white and wood.

My new theme is still Scandi but taken in a different direction- I can't name it but I'd say it was a "Nordic, Northern Lights, Christmas under the stars, winter wonderland theme" Confused 😅

Seriously I am in love with it though. We have a mix of white and oak wood, and the colours are mauve, mint, powder blue, and navy with lots of sparkle. Am getting that white fur Christmas trees skirt from Next and there will be lots of cool toned, pre coca cola Christmas colours with a very animal/foresty theme. plus all the wooden stuff in the scandi lodge theme at The Range

I don't change themes. The real tree in the sitting room is always traditional. White lights and tasteful decorations in red, green and gold. I buy a new decoration or two every year, preferably from countries I've visited. Sadly none this year.

As for the artificial tree in the family room, well anything goes. Lovely coloured lights, tinsel and tacky decorations I wouldn't dream of putting on the real tree. I love it.

Our theme is Scandi/homemade/natural. It came about when the DC were little and I wanted a more child-friendly theme (before that it was navy blue and silver - v sophisticated and not a Santa in sight!) but couldn't afford to go out and buy new decorations so we made a load of salt dough, pine cone and stained glass window gingerbread decorations and I picked up some scandi theme paper chain kits at Wilcos. It's evolved since then with more shop bought bits but still fits in beautifully with all the DC's creations they've made over the years and I love it. I always thought when they'd get older I'd revert to a more sophisticated theme again, but now I'm not sure I could bear it, these decorations hold so many special memories.
