Christmas Cake Dilemma.....Delia or Mary???

Stir up Sunday is looming (sort of) and I usually go Delia but this year.......thinking of making a controversial move towards Mezzer.

Any thoughts?

A Delia and Nigel mash up with chopped soft prunes. It makes the cake so much moister. Although I am quite heay handed when it comes to feeding the cake.

I bought one of the Waitrose kits in the January sales one year and TBH it was pretty good. I did substitute some of the fruit with extra prunes though But it makes a very thin cake. It's definitely worth considering if you are on budget, as even at full price, it works out a lot cheaper than buying the ingredients separately. I often end up with lots of leftover dried fruit/black treacle/suet that I don't have a use for until next Christmas.

I was flabbergasted to find out this week Delia has more than one recipe. For about 20 years I've made the same cake. Too scared to try a different recipe, so I used my trusty one again.

I switched from Delia to Mary a few years ago. Mary is far more moist. Ive been making Delia for years, but as soon as i switched i had far more compliments on it

This one, been making it for ten years, usually two of them (one for in laws) , never fails me. Gets a good soaking weekly until mid December and I always make them now (Oct half term)
