Board Games

Thought a thread of good board games might be useful. I can recommend Ticket to Ride and Carcassonne.

Has anyone else got any family favourites? Old or new and for any age!

I'm imagining a Christmas round the fire with a good game and a glass of mulled wine!

Oh I love both of those games! Some of our family favourites are Diamant, Artifacts Inc and Codenames

We love ticket to ride and I love how all the editions are slightly different which keeps it interesting. We’re looking for a new one for Christmas so I’ll be keeping my eye on this thread.

For anyone new to Ticket to Ride it is at £18 at the moment on amazon. It usually hovers around £35 and upwards

Catan is good. Love ticket to ride. How do the add on ones work? Are they played with the original board or stand alone?.
I requested Carcassonne for Xmas and ended up with Catan. Guess what's on my list again!

I love Takenoko. It has some strategy but is reasonably light, and it has pandas in it!

We like nmbr 9, Camel Up and Anomia. Nmbr 9 is quite skillful strategic, good for developing numeracy skills. Camel Up is great fun and Anomia is fast paced and usually ends up very funny.

We love games. The most recent one we’ve got is Herd Mentality, simple but great fun. We love a co op game like Pandemic or Ravine. Exploding Kittens and Goat Lords are fab card games and we’ve got several different versions of Fluxx, my favourite is Cartoon Network Fluxx Grin

Unstable Unicorns, although technically its a card game.
Blokus.
Harry Potter battle for Hogwarts.
Sorry! (DS printed the 'board' and we play with a app on the phone and random items as counters.)
We have a cupboard full of games but i can't remember what else is in it. Except Harry Potter and Dr Who cluedo.

@BeaLola - We play it with just the 3 of us. Our 10 year old loves it, (and we keep trying to make him learn a bit of geography with it too!).

Seeing the OP, we have been playing Ticket To Ride since Christmas and loving it, and just recently bought Carcassonne, which we are also really enjoying!

Be interesting to see other people's recommendations based on those 2.

Pyramid of Penqueen is a great game.
My son is 6 and just about gets the strategy but age 8 would be ideal.
