Really good colouring pencils, and art storage caddy?

Would love recommendations please, not strictly Christmas as I have a voucher to use for myself but thought this a good topic to ask as they often get bought for presents.

I currently use Staedtler Noris pencils but I don’t really like them - not sure how to describe it but they feel a bit... waxy?! As though they don’t leave enough colour on the page. I’d prefer something that is easier to shade with.

Other option for my budget is some kind of caddy - something with a lid definitely. It’s mostly pens and pencils to store.

Faber Castell - polychromos. They have a really good pigmentation and blend really well.

Depends on your budget for pencils really. Faber castell polychromos (oil based) are lovely pencils, prismacolor (wax based) are always recommended for ease of shading. I’ve heard that WH Smith own brand are supposedly quite good. It may be good to try and buy a few single pencils of each brand, from somewhere like Buddly Crafts, to see which you prefer.

Thank you both!
Budget wise I could get the set of 36 of the polychromos, which would be enough of a range for me I think especially if they’re so good for blending!

I will look at the prismacolour too. I don’t think I’ve ever tried an oil based one. WHSmith are pretty nice. I am treating myself this time and being a bit more frivolous as I won the voucher in a little art competition :)

Trying individual ones is a good shout, I wonder if they have them loose in hobbycraft like they do with some markers to try.

Where’s the voucher for? I keep all my pens and pencils in something like this www.amazon.co.uk/GXL-Coloured-Organizer-Multi-Layer-Stationery/dp/B07DNPPQLH?tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-21

That looks like a good option, thank you!

It’s an Amazon voucher for £50

These pencils I've seen get excellent reviews on colouring blogs, another option one step down from Faber Castell.
