When does this usually come out? Is it November? Also, predictions please. My prediction is some sort of web cam or laptop or technology that keeps us in touch even when we’re isolating. Not sure how the stuffed toy can tie into this.. but we’ll see. I buy the soft toy every year and I am actually SO excited!!

Do you think they'll have them this year? I have been obsessively googling for months, though admittedly not recently, and couldnt see anything Blush.

I think a lack of festive ads will finish me off after this god awful year!

But to answer your question, it is usually mid to late Nov I believe.

Oh we need in this year! And surely this year has been perfect fodder for them to go into sentimental over drive?

Can't wait.

They were casting it relatively recently.

We are filming a well known brand's (not JL) Christmas Ad very soon and it will air mid November Wink I think brands will be crazy not to produce any ads this year..

Ooooh I LOVE this!! Also excited for the other brands too. My oldest son gets so excited about having a soft toy that he can see on telly! He absolutely loved his Edgar last year, and Mog with her matching book!

The theme for their Christmas stuff this year is Art so expect something about art bringing us together.

Report
TheVanguardSix · 09/10/2020 10:46

Art, you say? Art... bringing us together while the economy kills it off. Oh, the irony! Sorry. I'm far too cynical for JL adverts.

Art Hmm I wonder!! I hope there’s an animal in there somewhere. All my faves have been animals. The bear and the hare, the dog on the trampoline..

I read somewhere a couple of years ago that both JL and Sainsburys (I’m not sure about the others) don’t release their Christmas adverts until mid to late November as to not take away from Remembrance Sunday.

I’m guessing this year it will feature the NHS and rainbows.

I'm guessing rainbows socially distances communication granny's in care homes baby's in hospitals delivery driver delivers teddy nurse delivers baby sing song

And I bet asda will feature their rainbow tree

A previous thread predicted a cuddly Captain Tom toy which, if I’m being honest, I’m totally there for 😂

Ok so trans couple in hospital with over worked but supportive nurses, elderly grandparent on zoom, delivery by JL of cuddly toy once parents home with baby.

Or trans parent at home Xmas morning, JL box for the kid with a cuddly in it, other trans parent comes he fr work in nurses uniform. Slippers for her. They zoom granny who's in a care home, her gift is a rainbow something or other / she's wearing a rainbow jumper

If it's Captain Tom then the current toy goes to the granny in the car gone who looks knowingly at the cuddly and says hello Tommy in a way that suggests it's not the first time she's got snuggly with Tom

The paragraph at the end of this article alleges they were in talks with Captain Tom Moore to be in the advert

Also, did the teddy bear ever get released because it could link to that too

Not so keen on the token trans or non binary (wtf?) couple with child combo...

I work in retail (not JL) and ours will launch early November.

Most of them launch during the first 2 weeks in November, and a PP is right about Remembrance Sunday. Some brands prefer to wait until after then, although some don’t.

I am imagining at least one brand to have a “non-advert”. Essentially saying they have decided to dedicate their Christmas ad spend to charity instead.

No way will John Lewis have someone with a gun!

Usually the JL ad starts around the first night of I’m a Celebrity.
